The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal was not always the “daddy” that fans know today. The actor struggled in his early days in acting and almost had second thoughts about the profession. But, like many other celebrities, he found stardom in his 40s.

Sarah Paulson Supported Pedro Pascal Financially During His Early Career

In an interview with Esquire, Pascal’s long-time friend Sarah Paulson, whom he met in 1993, shared how she helped the actor financially in their early days:

He’s talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself.”

Pascal revealed that he almost wanted to give up his dream, and he was constantly adjusting to make ends meet.

I died so many deaths. My vision of it was that if I didn’t have some major exposure by the time I was 29 years old, it was over, so I was constantly readjusting what it meant to commit my life to this profession, and giving up the idea of it looking like I thought it would when I was a kid. There were so many good reasons to let that delusion go.”

Paulson and Pascal met after the actor moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He appeared in several projects, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Touched by an Angel, and Undressed, although he did not earn a fortune in these movies.

Pascal never stopped trying out for auditions, until he eventually bagged the role of Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and Javier Peña in Narcos.

Proud and happy for her long-time pal, Paulson could not help but wish the best for Pascal:

You just want him to succeed. And that to me, I feel like, is the sign of a major movie star. I’m ready for him to take the reins from the guys from romantic comedies past, like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all these guys.”

Their closeness and unwavering friendship have stood the test of time, and from watching movies back when they were students to making huge projects in Hollywood, some things just never change.

Pedro Pascal managed to land on two of the most popular franchises nowadays, and the actor proved that he values bringing more emotional depth to the characters rather than just making noise.

Craig Mazin, creator and executive producer of The Last of Us, revealed in the same interview:

I’ve always said there are two kinds of actors: There are actors you feel slightly intimidated by, and then there are actors you want to take home and hug and give some soup. And he’s both. Somehow he’s both.”

Paulson also said that her friend is part of something spectacular, and she is happy that Pascal is becoming the superstar that he is destined to be.
