Sandra Bullock’s dating life has never touched the zenith of the Brangelina (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt) controversy or the Robsten (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) drama. But she has dated her fair share of famous co-stars as well.
The actress dated Matthew McConaughey after they worked on A Time to Kill (1996) and Ryan Gosling after starring together in Murder by Numbers (2002). However, she has never dated the actor her fans most wanted her to- Keanu Reeves, and there’s seemingly a reason why.
Sandra Bullock And Keanu Reeves Had A Crush On Each Other
Sandra Bullock starred with Keanu Reeves in the 1994 hit film Speed. Later on, in an interview with Esquire, the actress confessed that she often wondered if they could have survived as a couple. She said:
“Keanu’s a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he’s ever dated. I don’t think there’s anyone who has something horrible to say about him. So maybe we could have survived. I don’t know. But we didn’t have to survive anything. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together.”
In 2018, on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bullock admitted that she had a crush on Reeves and that he made her giggle like a teen girl. The John Wick star later reciprocated that sentiment when he was told about Bullock’s feelings a year later on the same show. He also added, “She obviously didn’t know I had a crush on her either.” So why didn’t the two date? It could be because of a two-week rule Bullock followed.
Sandra Bullock Revealed Her 2-Week Rule For Falling In Love
Sandra Bullock has a filmography spanning decades and knows the industry like the back of her hand. The star knows how easy it is for actors to fall in love with each other. Once Bullock termed Hollywood as “the greatest dating service on the planet.” But why? She explained:
“You take two people who normally can’t leave the house, who don’t know if people are with them for the right reasons, and they get paired up because they have chemistry, and they happen to fall in love.”
While the Miss Congeniality star understands why co-stars fall in love with each other easily, it’s apparently not that easy to impress her. It’s because she follows her own personal two-week rule. In an interview with Cinema, she said:
“With a romantic movie, there’s always a temptation to fall in love with the leading man, but I have the two-week rule. You’re thrown into a situation where you have to create this sort of artificial intimacy with the guy you’re co-starring with. It’s unnatural because you spend more time with this person than you do with your significant other. I give it two weeks and just observe the person.”
Bullock explained that the two-week time frame allows her to know the person she is starring with better and it allows her to get over her obsession, if any. She said:
“In the beginning, you’re going, ‘Oh, he’s so sweet, and he’s so attentive, and he’s so great’. After two weeks, it’s like, ‘Oh, he does this just like everyone else I know’. It gives you a new perspective.”
The star has been in a relationship with photographer Bryan Randall for about 7 years now since 2015. She has termed him as the love of her life and expressed that she is happy with their life. Looks like the Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock shippers won’t win anytime soon.
