Sandra Bullock’s Directorial Debut Was Such a Painful Disaster That She Never Tried Her Hand at it Again!

Sandra Bullock impressed the audience with her extraordinary acting skills which eventually brought her into the list of most influential actresses in the world. From making her breakout with the action flick, Speed, she rose to prominence with leading roles in the rom-com genre. Her dramatic and thriller flicks further added variety to her portfolio as she honed herself as a producer.

Given that she already has a producer title to her tag, many fans might be unaware of the fact that she has also directed a film. But her debut as a director was a painful disaster that she left it on her own.

The 1998 short film, Making Sandwiches was Sandra Bullock‘s directorial debut project which she wrote and starred in alongside Matthew McConaughey. Given the famous duo was starring in a small project, it was bound to get attention however it was not meant for her.

In an interview with Reader’s Digest, The Blind Side star opened up about how working on this project from behind the camera was her simple way to “educate herself” about writing and directing it.

With her experience, she learned that she did not have the talent to “lead” a project which meant writing and directing are something she would rather pass. As for acting and producing, she enjoys the process and would continue to hone her craft which she absolutely did becoming Hollywood’s sweetheart. However, not every project gives her immense happiness as she once revealed an embarrassing project that just can’t get out of her head.

While the 1994 film gave her a breakthrough in the industry, its sequel ended up becoming nothing more than an embarrassment for her. The 1997 film, Speed 2: Cruise Control is considered among the worst sequel ever made which is not a secret in the industry anymore.

While promoting her film, The Lost City onTooFab, she named the 1997 film as the title which embarrassed her despite a marvelous career.

“You stumped me with the fans coming around later on [part of the question] – I have one no one came around to, and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called Speed 2. I’ve been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island.”

Though, it can be forgotten given the amazing projects she has delivered in the industry. As for now, she is taking a hiatus to spend more time with her family. She is the mother of two adopted children, son Louis Bardo Bullock and daughter Laila Bullock whom she spend her time with during her acting break.
