Zachary Levi’s hope for Shazam! Fury of the Gods being a hit at the box office was ongoing ever since the movie was first announced. However, the response has been the exact opposite. Neither David F. Sandberg nor Levi expected such a response to occur for their movie. A lot has been said by fans and people involved in the making of the movie.
The actor further spoke about the movie and how it did at the box office. No doubt he is disappointed. However, he has taken his stance, much like Sandberg, to not be quiet. While the director will not be returning to superhero movies, there is no such news from Levi’s side. On the other hand, he is not one to hide from the reality of the matter and how it could very easily have affected the response to his movie.
Zachary Levi Admits Warner Bros. Discovery Is Responsible For Shazam 2 Flopping
Zachary Levi, while on Twitter, conversed about what was happening with Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He confirmed that he did not anticipate such a terrible response while in some places he did not expect the best response either. While he said that there was no one in particular he blamed, there was one aspect that became too obvious.
“This is also true. Sad, but true. How much that actually affects the box office is anyone’s guess. But I think the biggest issue we’re having is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families aren’t aware of that. Which is just a shame.”
Levi said that Warner Bros. Discovery did a bad job at marketing the movie, completely spoiling it in the process. He addressed the fans by agreeing with their point of how had the marketing and trailers been done in a much better way, the movie could have also attracted a bigger audience.
Zachary Levi Thinks That Warner Bros. Discovery Should Have Worked Better For Shazam 2
WBD has been undergoing criticism for quite a while now. While Levi has been coming to terms with his movie essentially being a box office failure, he has also acknowledged that a lot of it was because of a selective audience and the lack of proper marketing. Although the actor does not want to point fingers at anyone, he cannot hide that the studios were underwhelming when it came to the marketing of the movie.
The movie did not reach the fans’ expectations and most of it had already been revealed in the trailers alone. This made it impossible for Shazam! Fury of the Gods to work out in a franchise that was already hanging by a thread. He admits that had it been marketed to the right audience, it would gave gotten a much bigger viewership without having to go through so many problems.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now available to watch in theatres.
