When it comes to Ryan Reynolds, we can only imagine him in that beautiful green spandex suit, with a green face mask covering his beautiful eyes, going around beating villains with his machine gun, wait, that’s the wrong universe. When it comes to Ryan Reynolds, we can only imagine him in that beautiful red spandex suit and red face mask going around chopping down heroes and villains without any discrimination.
Ryan Reynolds first appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Wade Wilson which was released years ago in 2009 and later on he reprised his role as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool in the major blockbusters, Deadpool and Deadpool 2 and will continue his titular role in Deadpool 3 along-side his lover, I mean co-star Hugh Jackman portraying as Logan aka Wolverine. But recently Reynolds opened up about his previous movie with Jackman and blamed him for the movie’s failure and not being a box office major.
Ryan Reynold’s First Movie With Hugh Jackman
Ryan Reynolds has been a very funny and an open character, be it in real life or in movies breaking the fourth wall, and has never held back expressing his thoughts and feelings about anu concerning matter. In a recent interview with Variety, Free Guy actor Ryan Reynolds open expressed his feeling towards his first movie starring as Wade Wilson alongside star actor Hugh Jackman in his solo movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It is a fact that the movie did not perform well at the box office despite having big time actors in the movie.
Ryan Reynolds called the movie “an absolute trash” in the interview and continued to put the blame on his co-star Jackman, he continued,
“Everyone’s expecting me to eviscerate Hugh Jackman but I will say he was one of the first movie stars I ever worked with, back in 2007, on an absolute trash fire called ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ — that one was on him”
Reynolds continued,
“And what struck me about him was just he was so kind. He was one of the first people I watched at that level that treated the caterer the same way as the director or the producer or the head of the studio. He just treated everyone the same.
And you know that kind of impression spreads. And I think Hugh Jackman is probably responsible for a lot of better people who work in the weird and wonderful world of showbusiness. So yeah.”
Though Ryan Reynolds blames him for the failure of the movie, its not like his acting was poor or the production team did a sloppy job, a movie failed as a whole. Still the Canadian actor had some good things to say about Hugh Jackman as he earned the respect of many on the set where he treated everyone with equal respect. Despite the decade long feud between the two with insane regenerative ability, they have nothing but respect for the other and have maintained a healthy relationship all this time.
Deadpool 3: The Reunion of Deadpool and Wolverine
In the next installment of the Deadpool franchise, the threequel, Deadpool 3, it has been officially announced that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will make a comeback and it’s a first that an already dead character is being brought back on the screen. Though it has been done once with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, it is highly doubtful that the upcoming movie will ponder on their past.
Upon this sudden revelation fans are on a high note and are eagerly waiting for the two of them to share the same screen, as both their characters are one of the favorites. Now it’s only a matter of how will the script writers write out the story explaining the death of Wolverine in Logan, where he succumbed to his injuries.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine had a poor box office run of about $373 million after its release worldwide with an estimated budget of $150 million. The movie had an average IMDb rating of 6.5/10 and it did not have much positive reviews from the critic reviewers and also from the fans who have watched it. The movie also won a very limited number of awards though it was nominated for many of those. It won awards such as the BMI Film & TV Award, and the Scream Awards. It also won the Golden Schmoes Award for Biggest Disappointment of the Year.
