Ryan Reynolds was all set to work on a Deadpool Christmas movie before it got washed away due to the whole Disney taking over the Fox deal. The actor who recently starred in the Apple TV+ movie Spirited wanted to present a Deadpool movie from Wade Wilson’s eyes. Now as the MCU is already working on the third installment of the franchise, it will be looked forward to if Disney ever wants to bring the project back.
In the new movie Spirited, Ryan Reynolds can be spotted along with Will Ferrell. The movie is inspired by A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens. It presented The Proposal actor in a completely new avatar. For the first time, he worked in a musical where he is spotted dancing and singing instead of headlining any action sequence.
Ryan Reynolds on the forgotten Deadpool project
Very soon Disney is going to release The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special as an MCU Special Presentation. If Ryan Reynolds‘ words are to be believed, then he along with Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick planned something similar for the character of Wade Wilson long ago.
In an interview given to Big Issue, the 46-year-old actor revealed that he is still unhappy due to the Disney-Fox deal ruining his Deadpool project. He would still love to see a dance and a song number in a Deadpool movie.
“I would love to see a song and dance number in a Deadpool movie. Four years ago [Deadpool co-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made.”
Further Ryan Reynolds added that he still hopes such a movie to be made on the character. He is up for a full-length movie related to Christmas and Deadpool.
“Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
Although Disney broke The Adam Project actor’s dream Deadpool project, they made it sure to bring back the character in the MCU canon with a third installment.
Deadpool is arriving soon in the MCU
Reynolds’ career was catapulted after he starred as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Franchise. Both of his Deadpool movies are hit and are still favorites among fans. Following the deal between Disney and Fox, MCU made it sure to bring back the character on their bandwagon. But the main fuel was dropped by the makers when it was revealed that even Hugh Jackman is returning to his iconic adamantium-clawed character.
