It is hard to believe that Crazy, Stupid, Love was released in theaters more than ten years ago. Along with being the film that first had the brilliant idea to pair Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, the 2011 rom-com is jam-packed with memorable lines and scenes.
The makers of the popular romantic comedy, Crazy, Stupid, Love have even shared behind-the-scenes information, including how Gosling used the famous ‘Dirty Dancing’ lift to impress a woman in real life.
Some of Crazy, Stupid, Love’s scenes were so exceptional that they should never be forgotten. For the unversed, Gosling portrays a man who regularly seduces women with his charm in this 2011 critically acclaimed film. He is depicted as a man with boundless charisma and a sharp sense of fashion.
Also note that the inspiration behind the famous ‘dance routine’ featuring Gosling and Stone in one scene of Crazy, Stupid, Love is a surprising one.
Ryan Gosling’s Bizarre Way Of Seducing His Co-Star
Ryan Gosling, who is renowned for his commitment to his craft, once caused a sensation in Hollywood when his unconventional diet strategy for wooing his co-star, Emma Stone was revealed. The actress played his love interest in the blockbuster movie Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Despite the fact that his endearing looks were enough to win hearts, it seems that the 42-year-old Canadian actor went above and beyond to make an impression on his co-star.
The charismatic performer, known for his adaptability, had turned to an extreme diet regimen for a full six weeks prior to shooting important romantic scenes. Gosling’s secret weapon—chicken breast and broccoli—were revealed by the makers in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The Barbie star was instructed to remove his shirt by Stone’s character in the movie. When he does, she hysterically exclaimed:
“Seriously? It’s like you’re photoshopped.”
That line from Stone was intended to be the final line of the trailer and screenwriter, Dan Fogelman achieved his goal. But there was also a lot of pressure on Gosling to get in shape. Director John Requa stated:
“After reading that, Ryan said, ‘I think I’ve got to get totally jacked for this thing,’ which he later grew to regret after six weeks of eating nothing but chicken breast and broccoli.”
History of the Iconic ‘Dirty Dancing’ Move
A classic movie, Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, was released in 1987. It has a scene at the end that is equally famous: Baby (Grey) runs and leaps to Johnny (Swayze), who lifts her into the air before lowering her body to put her feet back on the ground. Because her father was present, Swayze and Grey did not perform this in an overly seductive manner. Instead of the seductiveness of the dance, the move highlighted its athleticism.
A somewhat similar scene was reenacted in Crazy, Stupid, Love.
In Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ryan Gosling pulls off a similar maneuver, but he does it to win the heart of a woman for whom he has finally found love. His character, Jacob, who plays the seducer with no feelings at all, begins to develop feelings for Hannah Weaver (Emma Stone).
The La La Land actor is still highly regarded by actress Emma Stone. In an interview for the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love, the actress stated:
“He’s so genuinely funny and such a good…I keep calling him teammate, but he is! He is a good teammate. “He’s really fun to act with and hang out with. He’s just…I dunno. He’s the best!”
Well, critics praised the movie, which made over $145 million against a $50 million budget. Meanwhile, Gosling will be next seen in Barbie, which will be released on July 21.
You can watch Crazy, Stupid, Love, which is available to stream on Hulu.
