According to a genealogist at Ancestry.com, the Tenet actor has an ancestral connection to Vlad the Impaler, the ruler who inspired the tale of the centuries-old vampire, Dracula.
Robert Pattinson’s Connection to Vlad Dracula
Popular for portraying Batman and the vampire Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson has some connections to the real-life inspiration for Dracula. The connection was discovered by a genealogist at Ancestry.com while tracing the actor’s origin.
The genealogist was able to find that Pattinson is a descendant of the brutal ruler known for impaling his foes, Vlad the Impaler, also known as Vlad Dracula. The brutal and sadistic leader was known for torturing and impaling his enemies. He is also believed to be the inspiration behind the title character for Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic horror novel.
It comes as a surprise, as some of Pattinson’s most popular roles are also associated with the same animal as his DC or Twilight character. The genealogy website also revealed that The Lighthouse actor is a distant cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry.
It also claims that there are possibilities that he could be related to Vlad III through the British Royal Family. The genealogist believes that the connection most likely comes from the Pickering family, who resided in northern England in the early 1500s.
Robert Pattinson in Talks to Star in Dracula
The Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao has been working on a film about the Transylvanian vampire, Dracula. The project was first announced in 2021, and she has shared that she is almost done with the film’s script. Her adaptation to the centuries-old vampire’s story is described as a sci-fi Western.
And recent reports have claimed that Robert Pattinson, who played a vampire in the Twilight film series, could star as Dracula in the upcoming film. It would be interesting to see the Twilight star take on the character inspired by his ancestors. The casting claims have not been officially confirmed yet.
