Christopher Nolan is considered one of the best filmmakers in the Hollywood industry. It’s undeniable that he has a unique sense of complicated storytelling and yet delivers quality blockbusters. The director has some of the best award-winning films under his belt like Dunkirk, Inception, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Memento. Over the years, he has worked with some of the most versatile actors in the industry.
One of them is Robert Pattinson, and the duo has worked together in a film called Tenet. The film came out in the year 2020 and grossed over $365 Million on a global level. It was also the 5th highest-grossing film of the year.
Robert Pattinson Had A Hard Time Understanding Christopher Nolan’s Tenet
Many people out there find Christopher Nolan’s filmmaking style quite complicated to understand. The same goes for the Twilight actor, who had a tough time processing the scenes in the movie and what was going on in it. In a past interview, Pattinson sat down to chat about his overall experience in Tenet and about Nolan’s direction.
The Batman actor praised Nolan’s filmmaking style and also shared his experience of how he had no idea of where the film was headed. He revealed that he often had to ask John David Washington to clear his queries and doubts about the scene.
“When you’re doing them, I mean, there were months at a time where I’m like, ‘Am I . . . I actually, honestly, have no idea if I’m even vaguely understanding what’s happening.’ And yeah, I would definitely say that to John David. On the last day, I asked him a question about what was happening in a scene, and it was just so profoundly the wrong take on the character. And it was like, ‘Have you been thinking this the entire time? There’s definitely a bond in the end in kind of hiding the fact that maybe neither one of us knew exactly what was going on. But then I thought, ‘Ah, but John David actually did know. He had to know what was going on.’”
Well, even fans at times find it hard to crack the Nolan code in films and keep wondering what’s going on. But once one watches the movie pretty carefully by keeping track of the events in the film, they can surely decode and it will then blow their minds.
Robert Pattinson Didn’t Let Christopher Nolan Know About The Batman Audition
Robert Pattinson gave some back-to-back hits recently and has maintained his top actor position in the industry. He also joined DC in the year 2022 with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, where he starred alongside Zoe Kravitz. At the time of Tenet’s filming, Pattinson was called for a screen test for the DC film.
To attend the screen test, he had to lie about it to filmmaker Christopher Nolan. He stated a family emergency as a reason to go to the audition of The Batman. But as everyone knows, no one can outsmart Nolan in catching a lie. As soon as Robert Pattinson gave his reason, Nolan said, “You’re doing the Batman audition, aren’t you?”
Even though his lie was caught, the Good Time actor still ended up getting The Caped Crusader’s role.
