Actor Robert Pattinson, who is widely known for his role as Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022), started acting in the early 2000s. He faced a lot of difficulties trying to find his big break but ultimately bagged the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005. Since then, the actor hasn’t turned back after becoming a teenage heartthrob among millions of fans.
However, the actor’s true moment to shine came back in 2008. His life completely changed when he was cast as Edward Cullen in Twilight (2008). Today, the actor is considered to be one of the best, however, there were several occasions when he lost big roles in big franchises.
Robert Pattinson lost a role in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
Michael Bay’s Transformers series is undoubtedly one of the most famous franchises of all time. The franchise was so big that almost every actor in the industry was interested in bagging a role in the movie. Robert Pattinson was one of the few who got the opportunity to star in the franchise, however, he reportedly ruined his audition for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. The actor did the American accent, not realizing that everyone in the room knew who he was. The impression made everyone think that he was doing a “bizarrely bland in-character improv.” His agent later called him and explained the issue.
The actor also turned down a role in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Ruining an audition for a $4.8 billion franchise was not enough for Pattinson, as he also turned down a role in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. As per reports, the actor didn’t see himself becoming a blockbuster star of superhero movies after ending his Twilight run.
However, he went on to star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022) and became a worldwide sensation for his portrayal of the caped crusader.

His career took off when he played Edward Cullen in Twilight (2008). Despite receiving mixed reviews, the actor went on to star in four more Twilight movies, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.
While the actor did struggle with fame after Twilight Saga, he showcased his serious acting mettle in numerous indie movies. From Water for Elephants to Good Time, Pattinson successfully left his Edward Cullen persona behind to be considered one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors. His association with Safdie Brother in Good Time paved the way to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed The Batman.
From working with Christopher Nolan in Tenet, Pattinson is now set to work with Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho in the upcoming sci-fi Mickey 17. Apart from that, the British heartthrob will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in The Batman 2. Needless to say, the actor surely doesn’t regret losing The Transformers franchise, considering the numerous controversies associated with it and the gradual decline in quality over the years.
The Batman 2 is scheduled to release in 2025.
