As of now, there has been no confirmation regarding Downey Jr.’s presence in the 2024 project. But it’s not entirely impossible since the franchise has already explored the multiverse leaving out space for variants of the previous characters to reappear in it. However, his appearance was highly speculated in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which of course, didn’t happen.
Hence, it’s safe to say that the film might have a flashback scene that could perfectly align with the MCU alum’s return. It would mean that the film might have planned a short cameo of the star with Ford’s General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is currently US President in the superhero franchise. Ford replaced William Hurt, who played Ross in MCU until his death in 2022.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to release in the United States on July 26, 2024.
