Remnant 2 Is So Big Even 400+ Hours Isn’t Enough Time to Have Seen Everything According to Game’s Principal Designer

Gunfire Games’ RPG, Remnant 2, is the next third-person action shooter to hit the shelves, and it might be larger than you expected. As game developers continue to push the boundaries of video game expansion, it has become commonplace to see maps and quest branches become larger and more grand. Principle Designer for Remnant 2, Ben Cureton, took to Twitter recently to describe the massive scale of Remnant 2. In his post, he said the following about the game:

“For those that love secrets and exploring:

No one has seen or obtained 100% of everything #Remnant2 has to offer. I’m talking about hardcore players with over 400+ hours, reviewers that had early access, even our own internal developers. No one.

Remnant 2 has secrets within secrets within secrets.

We made sure obtaining 100% Achievements is very player-friendly and then went far beyond that to keep the game rewarding long after you’ve hit that goal. Lots more in store!

Let’s take this journey together. Explore, discover, share!”

What’s most exciting about Cureton’s message to players, is the game will be enjoyable long after collecting the final trophies. So, if you are one of those completionist gamers, going for the “platinum” or “100% completed” status, Remnant 2 will not feel empty by the time you reach that marker. And even when you have earned all the achievements, you can continue enjoying the game long after reaching that goal.

What’s also inspiring is that even game critics, who had early access, have not seen the game in its entirety. This means some lucky gamers will purchase Remnant 2, download it, explore the world, and be the first people to ever discover certain parts of the RPG. Although it is not exactly clear what has made this world so large, with some speculating it is due to procedural generation, the developers at Gunfire Games insist the title can be enjoyed over more than 400 hours.

What Is Remnant 2 And When Will It Be Available?

Remnant 2 will allow players to explore for more than 400 hours according to the principal designer.

Remnant 2 is a sequel title to Gunfire Games’ previous installment, Remnant: From the Ashes. It takes inspiration from Soulslike titles and has both solo and co-op gameplay options. Players will go up against countless creatures and epic bosses as they fall down the rabbit hole Cureton has described. The PlayStation Store explains a little more about the size of the environment, in the key features section of the game’s page. When talking about new worlds to explore, the site says:

“Players can travel alone or with friends as a team through strange new worlds and beyond, overrun by mythical creatures and deadly foes while trying to stay alive. There are multiple worlds to explore with different types of creatures, weapons, and items. Utilize and upgrade discovered items to take on tougher challenges”

It goes on to talk about how Remnant 2 has been designed to have a seemingly endless style of replayability, saying:

“Branching quest lines, augments, crafting, and loot rewards will test the resolve of even the most hardened players in dynamically generated dungeons and areas. Playthroughs will feel challenging, varied, and rewarding as players succeed against unrelenting odds. Various stories are woven throughout the different worlds, encouraging exploration and multiple revisits.”

Clearly, Gunfire Games wanted the title to be something that would give gamers the true value of their money. If you are someone who loves RPG style shooters, with a lengthy amount of exploration, and challenging combat, then this may be the perfect title for you. Remnant 2 is set to release on July 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
