“Release that sh*t now”: Fans Demand Kevin Smith Leak the Joel Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever after Announcing He’ll Publicly Review it on June 19

It’s true that Batman Forever by Joel Schumacher has many admirers. The rumors concerning an extended version of the 1995 feature have been discussed both quietly and extremely loudly with megaphones over the past several years, as talk about extended director’s cuts of DC movies has only grown more popular.

Filmmaker Kevin Smith has now claimed to have seen the “Schumacher Cut” of Batman Forever. Smith stated that he will discuss the Schumacher Cut on June 19th after receiving a copy of it. And some fans are urging him to take a risk.

Kevin Smith Has Seen Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever 170-Minute Cut

Kevin Smith disclosed that he has a copy of the extended director’s cut in his possession, during the most recent episode of his video podcast Fat Man Beyond.

“You know what I got a copy of? Batman Forever the f–kin’ Schumacher cut. That’s right, so guess what I’m going to do? I probably shouldn’t be talking about this, Warner Bros.. is going to take my ticket (to The Flash premiere) away. I’m going to slip you a f–kin’ copy so you and me can talk about it on that June 19th show. First, we’ll talk about flash, then we can review the Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever. I’ve watched it, it’s longer.”

He added,

“You know how the movie starts with Two-Face busting into the bank and sh*t like that. That don’t happen for like 15 minutes in the original cut, it’s crazy. It’s a crazy good copy too, it’s off an Avid, it’s got temp score and everything.”

This of course led to a social media hashtag with the name #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut.

Fans Want Kevin Smith To Release The Schumacher Cut

Warner Bros. acknowledged the existence of the Schumacher Cut of Batman Forever in September of last year, but stated there were no intentions to make it available to the general public.

An underrated pop culture film. The only Batman movie I have seen multiple times.

There is also, as Smith pointed out, a more drawn-out and dramatic opening scene. Smith might provide us with additional details regarding this version in ten days when he reviewes the movie.
