Demon Slayer or Kimetsu no Yaiba attained widespread acclaim and became a global sensation after the series’ anime adaptation begin in 2019. The popularity of the show surpasses any other shonen anime present out there, and its manga has sold over 150 million volumes of the manga. The show features a dark and intricate world of demons and demon slayers, and it excels in the character growth of not only the protagonist but also other characters as well.
Apart from the commendable story writing of Demon Slayer, the animation of the show is outstanding, and in terms of animation, even notable animes series such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, or any other series. Any anime series would love to have a Kimetsu no Yaiba level animation in their series but not Solo Leveling as they decided to work with A-1 Pictures over Ufotable.
Solo Leveling Rejects To Work With The Studio That Created Demon Slayer
Solo Leveling is the most renowned webtoon by Chugong that has been read by almost every manga and anime enthusiast. And if you have not heard about it, chances are you are living under a rock. Usually, manhwas are popular for their story but this webtoon is an exception as it features a gripping plot and out-of-the-world artwork.
As a result, when it was announced that when the anime adaptation of the webtoon will be done by A-1 Pictures. As a result, every fan of the show was disappointed because Ufotable was behind some of the greatest anime series like Demon Slayer, Fate, and The Garden of Sinners. Needless to say, the animators of Ufotable have dedicated their time and effort to create jaw-dropping animation in the shows.
The same thing can be said for Solo Leveling as well because the artists have put unending effort into their artwork, making their artwork the greatest among all the webtoons. Hence, it would have been wiser to work with Ufotable as they are capable of producing content of this caliber. Although there are studios like Production I.G, MAPPA, and Bones capable of producing outstanding animation, they are consistently outperformed by Ufotable as they do it accurately and brilliantly.
Choosing A-1 Pictures would invite the risk of failure of the adaptation because the studio is renowned for creating some of the most artistically beautiful anime such as Sword Art Online, Your Lie in April, Fairy Tail, and many more. While the studio prefers to create an accurate representation of the manga but that may not be the problem with Solo Leveling because the manhwa features high-quality artwork and visuals.
Avid readers of the series know that webtoon is an important feature of shadow panels since the protagonist can summon shadow soldiers, and it is more of Ufotable’s territory than A-1 Pictures. Although it can not be said strongly, however, if A-1 Pictures fails to create out-of-the-world animation for the adaption then it is deemed to fail.
