Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a highly anticipated upcoming game, which is exclusive to the PlayStation 5. The third game in the series overall, and the second main game, it launches on 20th October of 2023. The series has received praise for its strong storytelling, fun gameplay, emotional yet humorous tone, and web-slinging that allows Spider-Man to traverse New York.

Given the buzz around Starfield, which is exclusive to Xbox consoles and PCs, the gaming community has naturally been comparing the two games, despite them being quite different in almost every way. One area where Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might have the edge is the install size which dictates how much space the game takes up on your hard drive.
What is the install size for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
The install size for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is just under 100 GB, coming in at a minimum of 98 GB. Presumably, this is without the day-one patch that games usually receive, and all future patches as well. Although Sony, PlayStation or developer Insomniac haven’t officially confirmed this information, the source seems pretty reliable: a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition Console Bundle Retail Box.
In comparison to Starfield, which clocks in at a whopping 139.84 GB on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is clearly the lighter game by around 40 GB, which is a significant amount. Furthermore, the install size of the former puts it even above other massive games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, which is around 110 GB. That’s a lot of space that can be used to install other games.
What do we know about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 so far?
Since we’re only a month and a half away from launch, we do know quite a bit about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. For starters, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be playable, each with their own moves, skill tree, and special abilities. Peter Parker will get access to the Venom symbiote suit at some point in the game, while Miles will have the bioelectricity powers he discovered in the Miles Morales spinoff game. Players will be able to switch instantly and seamlessly between the two, as dictated by the story and during the free roam segments by choice as well.
As for other characters, Mary Jane Watson, or MJ, will return as will Miles’s friend Ganke, along with new characters Harry Osborn and Kraven the Hunter. Harry, as fans will know, is the son of Norman Osborn from the first game, and also Peter and MJ’s best friend who is suffering from a terminal illness. It is hinted that he is the one who eventually becomes Venom. Kraven the Hunter, meanwhile, is a hunter as his name suggests and his desire for strong opponents brings him to New York, which impacts not only Peter and Miles but some villains as well.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20th exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
