Over the years, many different actors have played the iconic role of the British spy, James Bond. One of the actors whose iteration popularised the character among the wider audience was Pierce Brosnan. The actor played the role in four James Bond movies, GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).
People often point out that the title of the 1997 movie, Tomorrow Never Dies, makes no sense. There is actually a fair reason behind it. It was initially inspired by a Beatles song titled, “Tomorrow Never Knows,” however, a small typo in the title changed its entire meaning and the creators decided to go with it.

Before 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, all the titles of the James Bond movies came from Ian Fleming, the British novelist who created the novels about the spy. Actor Pierce Brosnan‘s first James Bond movie, GoldenEye (1995) was named after the property where Fleming wrote the novels.
Screenwriter Bruce Feirstein was then given the responsibility of coming up with the title of Brosnan’s second James Bond movie, and he struggled for quite some time. Finally, he heard a song titled, “Tomorrow Never Knows,” from the Beatles’ classic album, Revolver. Feirstein then came up with the title, “Tomorrow Never Lies.”
A typo changed the title completely
After finalizing everything and deciding that the film will be called “Tomorrow Never Lies,” a typo was made by an assistant as they were sending it to MGM Studios. The small typo changed the title from “Tomorrow Never Lies” to the title we all know today.
MGM Studios liked the idea of it and decided to go with that title and the rest is history. Bruce Feirstein himself confirmed this story in an article he wrote for Vanity Fair in 2008. The film was a worldwide success, grossing over $333 million at the global box office.
