Child kidnapping is a serious issue that is deemed a heinous and serious crime due to inflicting psychological and emotional trauma on the child. To spread awareness of this issue, Sound of Freedom was released, a film that showcases the story of a boy who embarks on a dangerous mission to save his sister from child traffickers. The movie gives a powerful message to its viewers, as it stirs up viewers on an emotional level so that they can understand the serious consequences of committing this major criminal offense.
However, in an ironic turn of events Fabian Marta, one of the financers of Sound of Freedom was arrested for the crime that the film is spreading awareness about. People were enraged and called out the film’s investor with several names. And Angel Studios has finally spoken up about the gravity of the situation and Marta’s involvement in this crime.
Sound of Freedom‘s Statement on The Arrest of Their Investor
Recently, Fabian Marta, a professional groomer, who dolls up girls and women of all ages, was arrested for allegedly child kidnapping. The professional groomer is infamous for funding Sugar Daddy/ Sugar Baby parties. However, trouble brewed for Marta as he funded Sound of Freedom, a movie that tries to tackle the issue of child kidnapping.
As per the statement, Fabian Marta was “arrested for removing a non-family member below the age of 14 without their parent’s consent and confining them.” Looking at the seriousness of the issue, Angel Studios, the studio behind the film released a statement and why he was part of the Sound of Freedom project.
“Angel Studios adhered to the requirements of federal and state laws and regulations in allowing 6,678 people to invest an average of $501 each into the launch of Sound of Freedom. Just as anyone can invest in the stock market, everyone who meets the legal criteria can invest in Angel Studios projects. One of the perks of investing was the ability to be listed in the credits.”
Jeffrey Harmon, the creative director of Angel Studios stated that their film managed to somewhat raise awareness as law enforcement officials had arrested “dozens of traffickers in the weeks following Sound of Freedom’s release.”
“We’re grateful to brave law enforcement officials who have already arrested dozens of traffickers in the weeks following Sound of Freedom’s release. Our film speaks to this globally-pervasive problem, and it is our hope that perpetrators everywhere will be brought to justice no matter who they are and that even more people will see the film to raise awareness.”
While the film is entangled in controversy, it has managed to become a major hit at the box office and it has earned more than a major franchise’s film, which has been recently released on the big screen as well.
Sound of Freedom Upsets Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 7 At The Domestic Box Office
While fans are going nuts over Barbie and Oppenheimer, Sound of Freedom has managed to come up as a surprising film that showcases a child trafficking drama that has outperformed Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One.
The surprising contender was mostly watched by older viewers, for many of whom director Alejandro Monteverde’s film starring Jim Caviezel has been one of the first movies they’ve seen in a theater since before the pandemic. The drama film was released exclusively in domestic theatres, where it managed to earn $156.4 million at the domestic box office, which is massive as the budget of the film was a mere $14.5 million.
While on the other hand, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One was considered to be one of the best action sequels, as it featured Tom Cruise. In spite of featuring the action star with jaw-dropping action scenes, and great plot it managed to earn only $144.5 million at the domestic box office. However, at the international box office, the film earned $308.9 million, raising its total earnings to $453.4 million. But that should not deviate from the fact that Sound of Freedom outperformed a major franchise in the domestic box office.
Sound of Freedom can be watched in theatres near you.
