With extremist reactions, the people defended director David F. Sandberg’s upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods movie for not clearing the air about the superhero’s future in the DCU. As the people claimed that they will not see the movie if it won’t be continued in the DCU, the people were quick to defend the superhero movie.
With claims that continuity is not as important as the movie itself, the people proudly defended David F. Sandberg’s creation. With Henry Cavill’s sudden removal from the DCU as Superman, people are afraid of their favorite characters getting excluded from James Gunn’s vision for the future.
People Defended David Sandberg’s Shazam! Sequel
With James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU in chaos, the people demand a light-hearted sequel that can support the cinematic universe and yet stand out on its own. With Shazam! receiving great ratings when it was released in 2019, the people have hopes for a sequel that will not disappoint.
In a Twitter post that dared to ask the director if continuity would be maintained in the future of James Gunn’s DCU, Sandberg had the perfect reply. The director’s reply was so powerful that the people rushed to defend him and supported Sandberg for his truthful stand. With feelings of nostalgia, the people simply asked whether the continuity of a film was more necessary than a stand-alone movie that could be enjoyed on its own.
With several claims that the lead actor Zachary Levi made several statements against visionary director Zack Snyder, Shazam! Fury of the Gods already stands at the point of toppling. With the first part receiving a whopping 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, people expect a good sequel without any controversial actors breaking the illusion of a good DCU.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods Cannot Be Explained By Its Actor
With Helen Mirren joining the cast of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, it was only natural that a little bit of plot is known to her. In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, the actress talked about the plot of the sequel but it was of no use.
“Don’t ask me about the plot, it’s too complicated. [Lucy Liu and I] are angry goddesses wearing unbelievably heavy costumes. It was very hot and uncomfortable and, in fact, Lucy said at the end of the first day’s shooting, ‘They are trying to kill us,’ in all seriousness.”
Although the last part seems an exaggeration, it is indeed true that the story could be convoluted enough that the people may eventually like it enough to call this a successful sequel. With confusing plots and controversial statements, the Zachary Levi starrer David Sandberg directed Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated for a release date of 17th March 2023 to be released theatrically worldwide.
