Payday 3 Will Feature Two New Female Playable Characters
Developer Starbreeze Studios recently shared more details about its latest title, revealing that Payday 3 will introduce two new female playable characters. This update was announced through a brand new trailer for the upcoming first-person shooter, which revolves around the two new aforementioned characters called Joy and Pearl. The official trailer description acts as an announcement, telling players that they will “have two additions joining in on” their “next heists.”
According to the Payday 3 trailer description, Pearl’s inclusion in the team will be absolutely magnificent, as she brings a fresh “new flair” to the whole dynamic. On the other hand, Joy will be returning as the gang’s “hacker,” ensuring that all of the technical aspects of the dangerous heists are handled smoothly and without any kind of hindrance. Both of these “heisters” will be playable from the very first day when the game finally comes out on September 21.
In addition to the intense new Payday 3 trailer, developer Starbreeze Studios and publisher Deep Silver also shared an official press release, revealing more details about who exactly these two female characters are. Pearl is someone who would go to any lengths to successfully complete a heist, even if she had to run cons in the streets or get a little too close with the wealthy.
Being an expert infiltrator and an amazing con artist, she ensures that all of her moves are calculated and things go according to her plan.

Introducing Joy and the Year One Roadmap for Payday 3
The second female character revealed to be playable in Payday 3 is Joy, who possesses unmatched expertise when it comes to hacking high-level security systems. The concept of mercy is completely lost on this heister, and both of these skills together make Joy a force to be reckoned with. She is a rebel who could not care less about authority, with a sense of humor that is just as twisted as it is hilarious.
While performing a heist in Payday 3, it is highly recommended to keep her on the team because of how efficient she is during extreme scenarios. Afterward, developer Starbreeze Studios also shared a year-one roadmap, showcasing the planned DLC for the game. It goes without saying that these plans are subject to change, but for now, this is what’s included in the roadmap:
- DLC 1, called Syntax Error, will launch in Winter 2023.
- DLC 2, called Boys in Blue, will launch in Spring 2024.
- DLC 3, called The Land of the Free, will launch in Summer 2024.
- DLC 4, called Fear and Greed, will launch in Fall 2024.
Payday 3 will also feature “additional content” in the future, including “seasonal events, playable characters, skill lines, new enemy, weapons, Unreal 5 update, cosmetics, new features, quality of life and much more.”
