Paul Rudd has been known worldwide since the early 90s. Starting his professional career with Clueless (1995), the star is a favorite of both the old and the new generation. Appearing in movies like The 40-year-old virgin and the famous sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, the guy has been known not to age. Paul Rudd stated in an interview however about being “conflicted” about being Ant-Man in the MCU.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will officially kick off Phase 5 of the entertainment giant Marvel Studios in their lineup of movies announced at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022. It was back in 2019 (earth year) when Scott Lang was rescued by a mouse. To quickly jog your memory,
Thanos killed half the avengers including Hope Pym (Wasp) and Hank Pym when they were experimenting with the quantum realm. Fortunately, Scott Lang was inside the quantum realm and survived the snap. 5 years later a mouse helps Ant-Man to come back to human size and then the rest is history.

The third part of the franchise will further dive deeper (pun intended) into the quantum realm to try and figure out what the rules are down there. Speaking to Access, Paul Rudd had the following thoughts to say out loud:
“Well, it’s fun to play a kind of a regular guy, who’s thrown into these extraordinary circumstances. And you know, a guy who seems to be somewhat conflicted about being a superhero. And so to try and play against that, and be somewhat relatable, and still do crazy things, it’s a really fun challenge and it’s fun to do every single time.” said the Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor.

Is it the end of the line for Paul Rudd as Ant-Man?
Based on what the actor had to say in the interview, it is questionable what he truly means. But to put all of our worries aside, for the time being, the actor will be staying in the MCU as Ant-Man (no promises!)

Speaking in another interview, Paul Rudd stated that he loves playing the character of Scott Lang and stated that he never gets old playing the character close to his heart.
“It’s always a fun thing to be able to come back and play Scott Lang again and work within Marvel, which is such an incredible thing… I never get used to it. And meet some new people this time around, see some old friends and you know, just every time, it’s like… I never really get used to it. I just still kind of sit back and ‘marvel…’ [at] how fun these films are, how exciting it is to shoot them, and what an honor it is to be a part of it.” said the actor.
Thus, it is safe to say that our beloved Ant-Man will not be leaving Marvel anytime soon.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania will release on 17th February 2023 in theaters worldwide and will officially kick off the 5th phase of the MCU.
