Paramount Plus has a plethora of movies. But here are the best of the lot.
The Ring
It was the 2000s and every film-maker of Hollywood was on a wild goose chase for adapting Japanese horror blockbusters for the West. The Ring was one of the most well-known examples of the phenomenon. The Ring is a movie that creeps and excites you at the same time. It is a very unusual piece of entertainment. Despite having a rather friendly PG-13 rating, the movie is an absolute master-class. The entire story revolves around a cursed VHS tape and the unfortunate people who manage to take a gander at it. Both the lead protagonist and antagonist outshine everyone else with their acting chops. The Ring 2, fortunately, is not on Paramount Plus.

The Aviator
Before there was Elon Musk, there was the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. He had crazy ideas and went to insane lengths to make them happen. The world was not ready for his ideas. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the eponymous character in Martin Scorsese’s incredible period piece drama. Scorsese manages to get himself embroiled in all kinds of controversies these days. But if you manage to look past that, you will find The Aviator surprisingly fun to watch.
Eddie Murphy Raw
Eddie Murphy is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Before he became renowned as a comic actor, Eddie Murphy Raw managed to show the world how capable he was. The concert film is extremely hilarious. Eddie Murphy takes on a huge audience and his comic timing blows everyone away. There are a few scenes that are not politically correct in today’s times. But if you have a thick enough skin, do give this one a try. We assure you Eddie Murphy Raw will not disappoint you.
The Indiana Jones Franchise
The year 1981 saw the birth of a pop culture phenomenon. The Indiana Jones franchise began with Raiders of the Lost Ark. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg joined forces to create one of the most successful movie franchises in history. Harrison Ford plays a college professor who specializes in archeology and mythology. He is also a globe trotting adventurer who goes on various missions to retrieve priceless artefacts of untold power. No matter how many times you watch the Indiana Jones movies, you still get amazed when the credits roll. And who could forget that epic theme song!!
Mimic
Miramax was known to have manhandled the movie so notoriously it literally killed a potential blockbuster franchise. Blessed by Guillermo del-Toro, Mimic had everything to become successful. It had an amazing script and crew. The major actors included heavyweights like Josh Brolin, Norman Reedus, and Mira Sorvino. Mimic takes us to a story where genetically engineered bugs designed to kill cockroaches mutate and start mimicking the appearance of their perceived greatest enemy – human beings. It gives us the creeps every time we watch it despite its visual clumsiness.
Chinatown
Chinatown stands as one of the most critically acclaimed movies ever made. It is a mix of the neo-noir and suspense genre. The work of now disgraced director Roman Polanski, it might get a little awkward for many to watch. For those who are okay with Polanski, the story revolves around Jack Gittes, a private eye hired by a mysterious woman who wants him to prove her husband is cheating on her with another woman. Seamless to say, things are not certainly how they appear to be in Chinatown.
Pet Sematary
Ardent Stephen King fans love Stephen King’s literary work of the same name. And they would still prefer the 1989 original movie over the iffy 2019 remake. The 1989 version of Pet Sematary looks dated now but there are plenty of wittily timed scares to tickle the living daylights out of you. this movie still scares us because of its all too realistic storytelling technique. The plot revolves around a family that discovers a magical burial ground that can resurrect the dead. But the resurrection comes at a terrible price.

The Mission Impossible Franchise
Mission Impossible started out as a TV Show. It was soon adapted for a movie starring Tom Cruise. The rest is history. Mission Impossible became the vehicle that drove Tom Cruise into global stardom. It turned him into a pop culture icon. Mission Impossible tells the tale of Ethan Hunt, who works for the Impossible Mission Force aka the IMF, a secret organization that is involved in saving the world from the shadows.
The Big Boss
The Big Boss is certainly not for everyone. If you are a fan of Chinese martial arts movies, you will love it though. The Big Boss was one of the last projects Bruce Lee did before he turned to Hollywood and created the legendary Enter The Dragon. There are impossible action sequences Bruce Lee vowed never to perform again on screen. You can see him punch a hole into a man’s chest using just his fingers or leaving a man shaped hole in a wall.
Minority Report
Minority Report may not score as great as Steven Spielberg’s other masterpieces. But it is a movie that has mesmerized science fiction lovers for years. The very concept is thought-provoking. In the future, humanity has developed a way to predict crimes before they happened. The protagonist, who is a part of the elite agency tasked with apprehending the ‘criminals’ before they committed the crime, is himself implicated in a murder. The movie eventually leaves the audience within a moral dilemma – when you have the ability to predict a crime before it happens, is the person who commits the crime in the future even guilty? The movie also has some striking visuals and special effects to boot.
Zodiac
Before Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Junior became the poster children of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they co-starred in one of the greatest suspense movies ever made. Zodiac focuses on the life and times of three men, who become obsessed with finding out the real identity of the Zodiac Killer. David Fincher splices the movie into multiple facets. There is no villain but the movie always makes us feel the looming presence of some terrible evil lurking in every scene.
