One of the leading multiplayer genres of gaming this past half decade has no doubt been the very popular and very monetized battle royale genre, including such well known titles as Fortnite, Apex Legends and Overwatch 1&2. These games seem to be at a never ending war with each other for player’s attention, which is hard because there are always new games and ever changing interests along with influential friend’s interests. How do you keep the masses continually grinding, and spending, and coming back for more? Well new content of course!
Blizzard has been noticeably struggling when it comes to their corner of the battle royale realm with their game Overwatch 2. The game has struggled to keep player participation numbers up with this sequel to the very beloved first Overwatch. The very awkward transition set out by Blizzard forcing players from Overwatch to Overwatch 2 likely didn’t do the game many favours either.
With all of that said, some positive news for the game. Overwatch 2 will be getting one of it’s biggest updates to date with this new season. Some features being added are highly anticipated and/or requested. This will hopefully give Overwatch 2 the boost it needs in player activity, here are some details to possibly entice you.

Overwatch 2 Maps
Season 6 is bringing 2 new flashpoint maps to Overwatch 2. The first map is called Suravasa and is said to be a heavily India-inspired map. The second of these flashpoint maps is called New Junk City and is a massive city that is supposedly inspired by Australia. New Junk City is where a few of Overwatch 2‘s characters come from, and was featured in an announcement trailer for the Junker Queen. The map will also feature an arena.
Overwatch 2’s New Support Hero
Another new feature coming to Overwatch 2 is a new support character, known as Lifeweaver. The name seems to indicate the hero will hold a lot of value to teams that are dying a little too often. Along with this character will be a new hero mastery system, to help make your hero a top notch competitor.
New Overwatch 2 Modes
Last but definitely not least season 6 is bringing you two new modes for you to enjoy, offering a different feel to the well-established game. Flashpoint mode sets you out on one of two teams to either control or assault across 3 maps while achieving objectives. The winning team will be the first one to get 3 points. The other mode is possibly one of the most requested, and that is a PVE story mode. This mode will add 3 story missions taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto and Gothenburg.
