Emily Blunt is one of the most decorated actors who has done a great range of roles she has done. Being a respected actress, she has done a great number of movies that have all helped her being one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood. Her latest role in Oppenheimer was one which caught the eye of the audience because of how powerful she played the character.
That was not the only prominent role she has played though. From Mary Poppins Returns to A Quiet Place, the actress gives one great performance to another. She has done quite a lot of movies but one that stands out more than the other is none other than The Devil Wears Prada. The movie was a smashing success and Blunt was open to returning as her iconic character with only one condition.
Emily Blunt Has A Condition For Returning To Her Iconic Movie
Emily Blunt played the character of Emily Charlton in Meryl Streep’s The Devil Wears Prada. The movie was absolutely success and is still a topic of conversation for critics. Many fans even asked to see a sequel for the movie. Blunt too was open to the idea but was sceptical about one factor in particular.
“What Meryl said was she’d do it if she didn’t have to lose the f***ing weight, that was her quote,” she added. “And I’d probably say the same because they made me lose weight for that. I was playing that character who was on the edge of ill thin just desperately trying to maintain her weight.”
She addressed the fact that if there was an opportunity to return to her character, she would only do it under one condition. There would be no talks about actresses having to lose weight for their roles. She acknowledged how her character was an unhealthy level of thin and doing that all over again was not something she would be up for.
Amy Schumer Thinks She Could Have Played Emily Blunt’s Character
Amy Schumer was originally supposed to play Barbie, a role that was later given to Margot Robbie. This was a fact that was not left hidden. So when both Barbie and Oppenheimer were released, she was basically the first in line to watch the movies. However, she did share her opinions about the movies.
“Enjoyed [watching] Barbie and Oppenheimer but I think I should have played Emily Blunt’s role.”
She exclaimed about how Schumer should have been the one playing Blunt’s character, Kitty. She joked about it and the fans were more than happy to go along with it, hoping that she played both Barbie and Kitty at the same time.
