References to the Western superhero culture are something that is portrayed often in the My Hero Academia series. It comes as no surprise to anyone how Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the franchise, is a fan of Western superheroes, and quite occasionally makes reference to characters from Marvel as well as DC in her own series.
Following the tradition once again, a recent chapter covered a running joke in the DC universe regarding a particular character’s butt that has sent off the whole industry laughing.
My Hero Academia Makes A Reference To Nightwing’s Butt
To give a little context first, All Might, one of the main characters in the story used to have a former associate called Nighteye, someone whose characteristics are often related to that of Batman. Following the same path as DC, Nighteye has his own apprentice called Mirio, who represents Nightwing in My Hero Academia.
It has been a running joke for quite some time now how Nightwing supposedly has the best butt out of every character in the world of superhero comics, something which is agreed upon by everybody.
Seeing an opportunity to bring up the same joke, the creator of My Hero Academia showcased Mirio in a recent manga chapter, using his glorious butt as a distraction to the antagonist while Deku arrived at the scene.
Mirio Uses His Butt To Distract Shigaraki
In the Final War Arc, Mirio is handed the responsibility to stall off Shigaraki, one of the major antagonists in the series, while Deku gets to the place where the fight is taking place.
It was at this moment that Mirio used his butt as an excuse to distract the villain, stunning Shigaraki till the time Deku finally arrived at the scene to save the day.
This sets another healthy example of how often creators and artists are inclined to respect each other’s work occasionally through references, mostly delivered through humor and illustrations.
