‘One Piece’ Live Action Season 2: 5 Jaw dropping Storylines Netflix Must Consider After $136 Million ‘One Piece’ Season 1

One Piece is one of the most popular anime and manga franchises in the world, so it makes sense that Netflix chose to adapt it to a $136 million live-action web series despite past adaptations not being successful or well received. The first season on Netflix launched to mostly positive reviews from critics and fans, and while we don’t know if it will get a second season, we recently got confirmation that the scripts for it are ready. But what are some of the storylines they could potentially adapt?

1. Loguetown

The Loguetown arc takes place in the titular town, which is notable as the birthplace as well as the death place of pirate king Gol D. Roger. That’s also where he made his famous announcement on the One Piece, his fabled treasure. The post-credit scene of the season finale hints at a new character, Captain Smoker, who becomes a recurring thorn in the Straw Hats side, chasing them across the seas. This arc also introduces other key characters and concepts, despite being relatively brief.

2. Alabasta, Baroque Works and Crocodile

One of the most important and well-regarded arcs in the early part of One Piece, the Alabasta arc introduces Princess Vivi and Nico Robin, both of whom grow to become important characters, the latter in particular. This arc also introduces a civil war in the Kingdom of Alabasta being caused by the villainous Crocodile and his criminal syndicate Baroque Works. Baroque Works was also hinted at various times at different points of the first season, so it’s more than possible that the second season could go there.

3. Skypiea

Nami read Zoro a fairy tale book while he was on the mend from injuries received courtesy of Mihawk, and the book is about one of the world’s biggest liars called Noland. In the manga and anime, Noland is shown as being a real character, and his story is connected to the sky island of Skypiea, which is a potential place and storyline that One Piece could explore. Although this arc is later in the overall plot, the breakneck pacing of the show could mean that they end up adapting it in the second season or at least set it up for the future.

4. Chopper the doctor

As Luffy and the other Straw Hats no doubt discovered, they need a doctor given that they get into dangerous skirmishes all the time, evidenced by the serious wounds sustained by their swordsman Zoro. This would be the ideal point to introduce Chopper the reindeer and begin the Drum Island arc, which sees Nami fall seriously ill and Luffy braving difficult weather conditions to help his navigator.

5. Buggy and Alvida join forces    

Buggy and Alvida are notable for being some of the early antagonists that Luffy faced in his quest for One Piece, and he successfully defeated both of them, which the Netflix series also showed in detail. At the end of the first season, the two are drowning their sorrows in a bar and meet, which could be the start of a potential alliance between them to further their goals and take revenge on Luffy. This team-up was also present in the anime and manga, so the two pirates joining forces against Luffy and Co. could be adapted as well.
