Ever since the release of One Piece episode 1071 was released, all the internet could talk about is Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation. It is a major development in the storyline and in the character of our hero as well.
Eiichiro Oda’s genius mind has structured this new transformation in such a way that it opens up many possibilities in the story. Is Luffy Joyboy? Has Luffy become the Sun God Nika? and many more.
However, it seems like Kaido, one of the main antagonists in the series right now, has figured out something in Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation that others have seemed to miss.

What Did Kaido Realise While Fighting Luffy
Kaido has been somewhat of a mysterious character till now, while much is known about him already, it has not been revealed yet how he knows about Joyboy.
The Yonka said Joyboy’s name for the first time in chapter 1014, which shocked nearly everybody, as it was something unexpected. He claimed after defeating Luffy in a fight that he can’t be Joyboy.
Something interesting has happened though in the recent Episode 1072 where Luffy finally starts to fight with his Gear 5. After acting all delirious and non-serious, Kaido was shown confused for a moment.
After seeing Luffy laughing all around and totally in the mood for playing around,
Kaido asks Luffy his name, which causes our hero to snap out of his playful mood and answer seriously. He says his name and then also claims how he will defeat and surpass Kaido.
The fight after Luffy answers Kaido’s question continues like normal, but Eiichiro Oda is known for hiding details in moments like these so one should keep an eye out for the same as such minor moments can often fill huge gaps in the story.
One Piece Luffy Gear 5 Abilities Explained
Out hero has been granted the powers he has through the Paramecia-type devil fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi, which was formerly known as
Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This fruit had been hidden by the world government to protect secrets no one knows about yet, but the fruit is said to grant the abilities of the legendary Sun God Nika to its user.

The fruit allows whoever eats it the ability to have an extremely rubbery body as well as the ability to manipulate their surrounding to their advantage, something which we have seen Luffy do in recent episodes.
While in Gear 5, Luffy also resembles the Sun god Nika himself with white hair and white clothes, as well as clouds around him. The transformation brings with it a huge arsenal of abilities that could never have been imagined before. Some of his abilities include Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket, Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun, which was used to finally defeat Kaido.
