One Of 21st Century's Most Iconic $703M Franchise Replacing Angelina Jolie With Jennifer Lawrence?

This may not come as a surprise, but less often than always, the film an actor or actress has been a part of is what makes or breaks their career, because they’re remembered for their outstanding performance in that project. Jennifer Lawrence is a prime example of how an iconic depiction of a character in a film or a franchise can become a springboard for an aspiring film star’s career.

Similarly, others in the industry also have made a name for themselves either by being in a memorable film or making it one through their performances. Angelina Jolie is also one of the fine examples of this fact, although recent rumors suggest that the franchise she helped build from the ground up in the past may soon be replacing her.

Coming back to the previous topic of discussion, a character is made iconic because of the actor that plays it to perfection, which also helps the movie become memorable as a by-product of that fact. Jennifer Lawrence was one of the reasons why her performance in the Hunger Games franchise was loved, and how the series became a smashing success as a result of that. Therefore, with reports of Amazon Studios rebooting the iconic Tomb Raider franchise, it’s odd to see there will be no sign of the actor that made it so iconic.

Remembered fondly for playing the bada*s explorer Lara Croft in the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider franchise in the past, Angelina Jolie. became the face of the character everywhere in the world through the almost perfect depiction of the character. But with the end of the series in 2003, there were plans of bringing the franchise back into the spotlight, which resulted in 2018’s reboot film titled Tomb Raider starring Swedish actress Alicia Vikander.

Although there were plans for a sequel to this film, there were a lot of problems emerging with scripting and production, which ultimately led to the cancelation of the proposed franchise. Now, as Amazon Studios takes the helm and wishes to revive the series once more, it is looking for a fresh start with an actress that can deliver, which has pushed the Don’t Look Up star ahead in the race to become the next Lara Croft.
