On the surface, Scott Eastwood seems to have it all. He has an amazing look in the first place; he resembles a young Clint Eastwood. The actor and model is actually Clint’s son. In multiple interviews, Scott Eastwood opened up about his relationship with his father and expressed his love and admiration for him. He admitted that his father’s commitment to his craft and work ethic as a young boy influenced him. On top of that, Scott Eastwood has said that he wants to carve out his own place in the industry while still appreciating the influence his father has had on him.
Scott Eastwood On How He Was Influenced By His Father
Just like his dad, Scott Eastwood is also a very accomplished and successful actor. Scott Eastwood still has plenty of time to achieve icon status even if he hasn’t exactly done so yet. Scott Eastwood looks just like his father did when he was young, which has certainly caused some déjà vu for everyone who has seen him on TV.
On learning from his father’s experiences, Scott Eastwood said,
“I’ve learned so much just by watching him, the way he handles himself on set, the way he treats people. He’s taught me the importance of professionalism, respect, and always striving to do your best.”
“I just worked with an actor, a younger actor, you know, there were a few times I snapped on him. I said, ‘Get your arse over here! This is a job!’ And I could hear myself after I said it, I could hear my father inside of me saying it, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m turning into my father.’ You know, a lot of people aren’t raised like that anymore, where someone is able to put them in check and say, ‘Hey, stop acting like an arsehole, get over here, this is a fucking job.’ That’s how my Dad would’ve done it. There’s a little bit of that lacking in society today.”
Scott Eastwood worked together with Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino (2008), where Scott Eastwood had a supporting role. Although they haven’t worked together much on camera, Scott Eastwood’s career has clearly furthered from their mutual passion for acting.
Why Scott Eastwood Turned Down the Suicide Squad?
In the 2016 film Suicide Squad, Scott Eastwood played “GQ” Edwards, one of the tough military personnel who battles alongside Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and a slew of DC Comics bad guys to save the day.
Eastwood said that after speaking with his renowned father, Clint Eastwood, he ultimately decided against accepting a three-picture deal from Warner Bros.
After calling his father Clint for some advice, Eastwood ultimately turned the sequel down:
“They didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies and … they didn’t have another script for the other movie, so I didn’t know what I was going to be signing myself up for. I called my dad. I said, ‘They don’t want to pay me.’ He said, ‘If it feels like they really need you, and if it’s a good part, then do it. If not, then don’t.’ I didn’t have the answer to those questions at that time. I wasn’t going to have the answers, and they were pressuring me. So ultimately it didn’t happen.”
Scott Eastwood played Lt. Edwards in Ayer’s Suicide Squad film.
