Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff, Wednesday took the world of entertainment by storm with its release. It broke the record of Stranger Things for the most hours viewed in a week for an English language series. People were going crazy over the eight-episode series following the school life of the eldest Addams sibling.
While the show was released on Netflix, there were speculations about Wednesday leaving the streaming platform for an Amazon property. However, the reports were soon debunked and it has been confirmed that should fans get a second season for the show, they don’t have to purchase another streaming platform’s package to watch their favorite gal. Whatever mystery Miss Addams finds herself in the center of will be solved on Netflix only.
Wednesday Remains on Netflix
The Independent had reported that the upcoming seasons of Wednesday could be available to stream on an Amazon-owned platform, which was most likely to be Prime Video. This report came from speculations following MGM getting acquired by Amazon. MGM is the studio behind the spinoff show. Since MGM was now under Amazon, the reports speculated that any and all MGM projects could be streamed on Prime Video.
However, IndieWire soon put an end to these rumors stating that even before MGM was acquired by Amazon, the Studios had a deal with Netflix. This deal made sure that the series would be on Netflix to stay. Fans on Twitter sure were happy to hear that Wednesday Addams isn’t leaving Netflix.
What’s On Netflix, too, talked to a few industry experts and sources about the whole situation and came to the conclusion that The Independent’s reports were nothing but pure speculations. According to the outlet, the foreseeable future of Wednesday is in Netflix’s hands. This means that even if fans don’t get a season two, season 1 will be available to stream on Netflix till 2032. However, given that the first season ended on a bit of a cliffhanger thanks to Wednesday’s new smartphone, a second season doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

Thanks to Netflix, the world saw actress Jenna Ortega take on the role of one of the most iconic characters in the entertainment industry. Her work was applauded by everyone who watched the show. Fans were mesmerized to see how she managed to perfectly bring out the dark side of the character (and how she almost never blinked!).
The show not only saw a brilliant performance from the lead actress but the other actors in the show were considered to be equally fitting for their roles. This includes Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill, and so on.
The actors, their chemistry with each other, and a gripping storyline all led to the show breaking the record of Stranger Things. The show ended up getting streamed for over $341.2 million hours within the first week of its release. Previously, Strangers Things’ season four had held that record for an English language series with 335 million hours. Needless to say, it deserves a second season!
