Anthony Mackie Reflects on Jonathan Majors’ Controversy
Finally, someone from MCU has weighed in on the Jonathan Majors’ controversies and it’s none other than the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie. In an Inverse interview, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor reflected that it is too soon to judge his MCU fellow star.
“We’re a country that was built on ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty.’ That’s one of the staples of this country. Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say. It’s crazy where we are as a society. But as a country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”
Following Majors’ arrest, the concern about his future MCU projects has been the talk of the fans. Captain America: Brave New World star did not reveal any inside information about the studio’s decision regarding Majors’ involvement in future MCU projects. But his take on Majors has a defensive approach for the actor as he insisted on not relying on the speculation on the surface of the controversies.
After his arrest, a lot changed for Majors as it deeply wounded his career affecting major movie deals. So far, MCU has not revealed any plans for the actor, perhaps they are waiting for the result of the trial set on August 3.

The Jonathan Majors Controversy
On March 25, MCU’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York following a 911 distress call. As per the New York Police Department, Majors was arrested for alleged assault on a 30-year-old woman who sustained minor injuries to her head and neck.
The arrest has affected Majors a great deal as the actor was dropped from two important ads he was set to appear including a U.S. Army recruitment ad and one for Texas Rangers. His management company and PR firm also dropped the actor.
Even though, MCU has not issued any official statements regarding the actor and his films in the studio, the cinematic world outside the studio did not tackle much time to decide on Majors’ involvement in some projects. After his arrest, Majors was dropped from Nadia Latif’s Willem Dafoe starrer The Man in My Basement which is based on Walter Mosley’s novel of the same name. The actor was also dropped from singer/songwriter, Otis Redding’s biopic.
MCU on the other hand playing it safe while handling the Majors’ situation by remaining quiet. Mackie’s recent response also failed to shed light on the studio’s take on the matter at hand. As for his projects are concerned, Loki season 2 was filmed well ahead of his arrest, so, it is highly unlikely that anything will be changed in the series. As per Collider, the second season of the Tom Hiddleston starrer show will premiere on Disney+ on October 6, 2023. But, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty recently delayed its release to 2026, so, there is not much information on his involvement in the forthcoming Avenger film as the studio might change the scenario after his trial.
Mackie’s Captain America: Brave New World will hit theatres on 26 July 2024.
