Franco is a talented actor known for being tough to deal with. This isn’t only because of his method of acting. James Franco and Henry Cavill, his co-star in the 2006 film Tristan and Isolde, have reportedly reignited their animosity.

James Franco claims that he was the star of the show as Tristan and that Cavill was the scheming sidekick. Franco revealed in a review of Henry Cavill’s Superman film Man of Steel that he went to watch it without drawing attention to himself out of concern that Cavill wouldn’t want to see him there.

“Because I don’t think Henry Cavill would have wanted to see me there. Not that we’re enemies.”

James Franco also confessed that he was a “difficult young actor who took himself too seriously” at the time and would not have liked himself.

“Years ago we worked on a film together called Tristan and Isolde. I played Tristan and he played my backstabbing sidekick. My hunch is that he didn’t like me very much. I don’t know this for certain, but I know that I wouldn’t have liked myself back then because I was a difficult young actor who took himself too seriously.”

James Franco’s history of on-set tensions is not new. It was reported by Tyrese Gibson, Franco’s co-star in the film Annapolis, that Franco went too far with his method of acting by repeatedly punching Gibson in the face during their boxing sequences. Gibson voiced his displeasure with Franco’s methods in a public forum.

James Franco’s Future in Hollywood

James Franco appears to have matured due to his experiences and is trying to improve himself. Franco has vowed to better himself in the wake of s*xual misconduct allegations. Franco has also recently spent more time on his studies and less time in Hollywood. In 2020, he earned his doctorate from Yale and has been an adjunct professor at several institutions since then.
