“Because I don’t think Henry Cavill would have wanted to see me there. Not that we’re enemies.”
James Franco also confessed that he was a “difficult young actor who took himself too seriously” at the time and would not have liked himself.
“Years ago we worked on a film together called Tristan and Isolde. I played Tristan and he played my backstabbing sidekick. My hunch is that he didn’t like me very much. I don’t know this for certain, but I know that I wouldn’t have liked myself back then because I was a difficult young actor who took himself too seriously.”

James Franco’s history of on-set tensions is not new. Franco has also recently spent more time on his studies and less time in Hollywood. In 2020, he earned his doctorate from Yale and has been an adjunct professor at several institutions since then.

Franco has always been up for a challenge, whether in his comedic roles like Pineapple Express and This Is the End or his dramatic turn in The Disaster Artist.
