Christopher Nolan is one of the most talented and respected filmmakers of current times. He has made some of the most critically acclaimed projects of all time, being the mind behind masterpieces like Christian Bale’s Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar, Inception, and most recently, his work in Oppenheimer. He has been awarded for his work time and time again being nominated for an Academy Award multiple times in many different categories.
Having been making films for such a long time, Nolan seems to have one goal, to outdo all of his past works with every new project he brings out. This seems to be even more the case when his past, like The Dark Knight trilogy and most recent work, Oppenheimer, are put side by side and compared, more specifically, the budget-to-box-office ratio of these projects.
What Was The Budget Of Christian Bale’s Dark Kight Trilogy and How Much Did It Make?
Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the most beloved and well-doing superhero films of all time. Featuring an incredible cast, with actors like Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman, the movie series was incredibly successful and even made Ledger an Oscar-winning actor. The first film was titled Batman Begins and made a total of $373 million worldwide on a budget of $150 million, making a profit of 2.5 times.
The next film to come was called The Dark Knight. This film by far performed the best out of all the films from the franchise, making a profit of 5.4 times more than its budget, making a total of $1 billion worldwide on a budget of only $185 million. The final film in the franchise, The Dark Knight Rises, made a total of $1.08 billion worldwide on a budget of only $250 million.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Beats The Dark Knight Trilogy
It would seem that despite the cast and the hype that surrounded these films, Christopher Nolan’s most recent work, Oppenheimer, beats the profit made by all three of the Batman films. Oppenheimer is no different when comes to its cast, as the film features a massive, A-list cast, including actors like Matt Damon, Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, and Robert Downey Jr. Along with this, the movie features one of the most interesting real-life events to have even taken place, being based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
The hype surrounding this film was something very rare so, it is no surprise that the film did fantastically well in the box office. With a budget of $100 million, the film managed to make a total of over $777 million worldwide, making a profit of 7.77 times its budget. This makes this movie Christopher Nolan’s Highest Earning Non-Batman Movie and winning against Batman in a budget-to-box-office ratio.
