From Reunions to Reality: Chris Pratt

Out of all the superhero roles that Chris Pratt has played in his career, the role of Mario might be his favorite. After all, the fans have immensely loved how the actor has voiced the character. This was evident when the Nintendo game-based movie hit the theatres it had blown away the box office predictions becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. And only after five days of release The Super Mario Bros. Movie grabbed the title of the biggest opening weekend for an animated movie.

Even though Chris Pratt’s movie was immensely popular in the USA, the animated film was brutally beaten in Japan by a popular anime franchise. And, no, it is not Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball film or Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece that has recorded the highest-earning film in 2023. The 26th film in the Detective Conan franchise has marked the highest opening in 2023.

Chris Pratt Got Emotional Watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Before shattering box office records in the USA, The Super Mario Bros. Movies faced immense online backlash from fans. During an exclusive interview with ET, the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom actor stated his fears and how he got emotional watching the film for the first time.

“There had been a lot of backlash and people talking about the casting. And I was like, “Oh, man. I hope it’s good.” And then it’s so good. It was just such a relief. I was as nervous as everybody else that this was going to get screwed up and I was grateful that it didn’t.”

The project was immensely important for Pratt because as a kid, the actor had played Mario games for “probably a thousand hours,” if not more. Fittingly, when the Guardians of the Galaxy actor would play the game with his siblings, he would choose the Italian Plumber. Hence, it was immensely important to make sure that people would love his performance in the animated movie.
