During an exclusive fan Q&A on her official app, one user asked the question many people were thinking about but were too shy to ask.
“I highly doubt this because you’re absolutely perfect, but men are dogs, so imma ask anyway. Have you ever been cheated on? Do you have wise words to go by that help you make decisions in your relationships?”

She admitted that she had been cheated on in the past, but insisted it wouldn’t be fair to judge all men by her bad experience with one type. Zendaya’s response shows that she values uniqueness and rejects stereotypes.
“Not all men are dogs. You can’t categorize an entire type of person because of something that happened to you once. But I would say, follow your gut. If you feel it, it’s probably happening. If you feel like you can’t trust somebody, or you feel whatever, then you shouldn’t be in a relationship with them.”
The Dune 2 actress also explained her position on commitment and her fear of it. Zendaya acknowledged that being young is a phase of development and learning and that mistakes are to be expected. She worried that inexperience would cause her to make bad choices if she committed to a partner during this time of exploration.
“That’s why I’m so anti being in a committed relationship when you’re young and people are learning and growing. Because when people are young, they make bad decisions sometimes because they don’t know any better. It doesn’t mean they don’t know the difference between right and wrong — it just means that they’re still in the experimental phase in their life where they haven’t made the right decisions yet.”
Zendaya understood the significance of taking time before committing to a long-term relationship to grow and make the best choices. Zendaya concluded that people cannot change others or make them grow up faster than they would.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home actress understood that it can be difficult to be in a relationship with someone still developing their sense of self and that each person must go through self-improvement independently. Zendaya didn’t want to rehash old drama so much as she wanted to help and comfort her audience.
