Will Smith has done a plethora of movies and starred in several iconic roles throughout his Hollywood career. Much like many other actors, Smith also tried to turn his career toward politics. With his dreams of becoming the President, the actor wants to involve himself in political life.
The actor would have joined the side of politics if not for his wife Jada Pinkett Smith who actively refused to support the actor’s run for the post of president. Stating that Will Smith could not run for president, Jada Smith gave the reason that nobody wants her as First Lady.
Jada Smith Doesn’t Want Will Smith To Become President
Back when Will Smith wasn’t that famous as an actor, he used to rap with DJ Jazzy Jeff while starring in his iconic role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The actor joked that he wouldn’t mind running for the role of President of the United States.
Jokingly stating in an interview with Variety, the actor stated that he would want to run for president provided that he can get an NBA championship before that. Talking about the political landscape at that time Will Smith wanted to join politics very badly.
“Give me 10 years, and I’ll make it, provided I can squeeze in an NBA championship before that. As I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me,”
Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that her husband would never be elected the president since she the people did not want her to become First Lady of the United States.
“I told him that there’s no way he can run for President because nobody wants me as the First Lady,”
The Men in Black actor confirmed his wife’s sayings by agreeing that he isn’t exactly sure what she means by that.
“My wife has said on numerous occasions, ‘Hell, no,’ I’m not sure what she means by that, but that is what she said.”
The actor did not go into a political career but he did, however, star alongside his son Jaden Smith. Recalling one of the most hilarious failures of his career, Smith talked about starring in the 2013 movie After Earth.

When Will Smith Regretted Starring Alongside His Son
In 2013, Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith shared the screen together in After Earth. The movie was received very badly by the audience since the movie stands at a rating of 4.8/10 on IMDB and 12% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“That was a valuable lesson for me a few years ago with After Earth. That was the most painful failure in my career. I never released that and moved into a mature way of looking at the world and my artistry and love until the failure of ‘After Earth,’ when I had to accept that it’s not a good source of creation.”
In the end, a sequel to After Earth was never made and Will Smith did not follow his political career in the end. The 2013 movie is available to stream on Netflix.
