After a hiatus, the science-fiction/horror show is set to return to Netflix, to break viewership records with its final season. Overtaking several other TV shows, Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things successfully launched a handful of child actors in the industry. Though the entire cast has found success, Millie Bobby Brown undoubtedly became an overnight superstar.
Cast as the pivotal character Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown was thrilled to book a job. Although she initially couldn’t predict the popularity of the show, Brown soon became a household name and an Emmy nominee with millions of loyal fans. However, her shaved head which kept her distinct was the very reason she almost lost her role, as her mother wilfully opposed the transformation.
Millie Bobby Brown Was Uninformed About The Shaved Head
Appearing as the young heroes of Hawkins, Millie Bobby Brown along with the entire child cast of Stranger Things, became overnight superstars following the release of the show. Creating an uproar, Brown undoubtedly became the breakout star after her appearance as Eleven in the Netflix series.
Despite having little to no dialogue, Millie Bobby Brown stood out among the cast because of her peculiar personality and distinct look with a shaved head. However, while joining the show Brown had no idea, she might have to shave her head. Keeping the information from her for quite some time, the creators waited for Brown to fully embrace the role and then give her the shock.
Considering how the 19-year-old was thrilled to get the role, Duffer Brothers dumped the information about the transformation on her. And evidently, the actress embraced the idea of a shaved head, for her big break. “Actually, they were very clever” Brown reflected upon the creator’s masterplan. However, her mother was less than enthusiastic about the idea of a shaved head and thus wilfully opposed it.

Millie Bobby Brown’s Mother Opposed The Transformation
Thanks to Millie Bobby Brown’s distinct transformation, the actress grabbed quite the attention of the audience, since the very beginning. Standing out of the crowd, the young actress stole the spotlight and catapulted herself to global fame. However, her mother wasn’t quite fine with the idea of Brown’s shaved head. Unaware of the transformation during the actress’ initial audition, her mother was strictly against it.
During an interview with Elle, Millie Bobby Brown recalled her mother’s shock when she learned about her daughter’s transformation. “I got the callback and then I did a Skype meeting and there was nothing at all about head shaving!” the actress detailed. She further added, “And then we flew over to L.A., and they were like, ‘Are you ready?’ And I was like, ‘For what?’”.
Recalling the horrors her mother experienced when she saw the creators and producers indicating a shaved head for Millie Bobby Brown, the actress detailed the incident. “I was next to Finn [Wolfhard], and Ross Duffer comes up to me and puts his hand out and goes, Bzzzzzzzzz. And my mom’s like, ‘No! That’s not happening.’” Laughing along, Brown mentioned convincing her mother, “I was like, ‘Mom. You need to chill out; it’s gonna grow back.’ My mom was against it. And me and my dad were like, ‘Come on. It’s fine!’”
However, it all went well and the transformation is what made the real difference. Committing to the role and the approach to get into Eleven’s mind, Millie Bobby Brown took on a great journey that launched her to her fame.
