In an interview for VMAN magazine where Josh O’Connor was their cover star, he was interviewed by Zendaya, with whom he worked together with on the upcoming film Challengers. They talked about their involvement in the film and other aspects of life, films and their personalities. One behind-the-scenes anecdote pointed out by O’Connor involving Zendaya particularly stands out hilariously.

One day as they were preparing to shoot for Challengers, Zendaya was not talking to anyone or vice versa. The reason behind this silence was hilarious because of a Beyonce song. He recalls,

“There was a day when we were shooting and Beyonce’s new track was coming out–and I’m not saying that Beyonce is like your equivalent of my ceramics, but no one could talk to Z. Like we didn’t engage that entire day, you were just listening to that song every second”

Zendaya explained the situation saying that the song gave her a good way to bid farewell to their last day of shooting in Boston. Hence, the bittersweet feeling and the vibe of the song together left Zendaya hypnotized and silent for the day.

Many actors have pointed out music as a way to either get into the skin of a character or to switch off a character once the shoot is complete and come back to their normal selves. The point is that the influence of music on actors is profound. It helps them to maintain stability and a sense of peace during the production of a movie where things tend to get hectic and cumbersome.

Zendaya’s situation is a sweet and emotional response as the song encapsulates her bittersweet moment of bidding farewell to the last day of the shoot for a movie that is supposedly close to her heart. Thus, she is trying to feel every moment alone, soaking in memories of the last shooting days of her upcoming film.
