The Hunger Games became an instant hit and the lead stars including Jennifer Lawrence became international stars overnight. The hit franchise, based on the book series of the same name, went on to earn a whopping $2.9 billion across the globe.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence went on to become one of the most liked and famous actresses at a young age. As is the case with others, the just 20-year-old actress had a hard time after the franchise became a commercial success, and she felt like she had lost all control.
Jennifer Lawrence Lost Her Sense Of Control After Hunger Games Success
The first Hunger Games movie was released in 2012, when the lead actress, Jennifer Lawrence was just 20 years old. As the movie gained the attention of fans and critics, Lawrence went on to star in multiple million-grossing movies and even earned multiple laureates including an Oscar.
Jennifer Lawrence has always been vocal about her life in the film industry, be it the struggles she had or the pleasant experiences she has gone through over the years. Last year during the London Film Festival, the actress opened up about how she dealt with fame and what went on after becoming a global sensation thanks to the Hunger Games franchise,
“I think I lost a sense of control. Between ‘The Hunger Games’ coming out and winning the Oscar [for 2012’s ‘Silver Lining Playbook’], I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision. When I reflect now, I can’t think of those following years, [because there was] just a loss of control.”
This newfound fame and loss of control along with the constant pressure from the media, had her feel like she lost her identity. She had to work through it all to claw back her real self.
Jennifer Lawrence Had To Find Herself Again After Global Stardom
Fame naturally leads to a loss of privacy and constant scrutiny of personal life by media, audience, and fans. And this was what the No Hard Feelings star witnessed after being catapulted into the spotlight. Since starring in Hunger Games, the actress has become a part of several hit movies, including the X-Men franchise, American Hustle, and Silver Linings Playbook. However, it wasn’t until her movie Causeway that she felt that she was doing it all for herself,
“It feels personal for me the first time in a long time.”
Lawrence has now slowly started to find herself again while continuing to take on diverse roles and showcasing her versatility.
