Andy Muschietti took a legion of iconic superheroes, tossed them all together in the multiversal saga of The Flash, and really said ‘nothing sells better than nostalgia.’
The much-anticipated Ezra Miller-led superhero flick is just a day away from its world premiere and we have some exciting news that doubles as a glaring red ‘Spoiler Alert!’ So, you have been warned. But here’s the official warning, just in case.
SPOILER ALERT! The following article contains spoilers for The Flash
Nicolas Cage Isn’t the Only Superman Making A Comeback
The Flash‘s star cast has been carved to perfection, as it is, with the likes of Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Michael Shannon, and Sasha Calle uniting for one of the most legendary superhero adventures ever. And as if that wasn’t enough, the film is chock full of epic cameos, some of which are so bewildering that fans would never see it coming. Like the fact that there isn’t one but a total of four Supermen cameos by different actors. Yup, you read that right.
Here are all the Superman stars who are set to seize fans by surprise thanks to their cameos in The Flash:
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage, who was slated to don the cape in Tim Burton’s ultimately-shelved Superman Lives, will be making his much-awaited DC debut in The Flash, albeit for a cameo. That being said, the Ghost Rider star isn’t the next Superman or Henry Cavill‘s replacement in the DCU, for that matter.
George Reeves
While Cage’s Clark Kent will feature in the Muschietti-helmed movie, so will George Reeves’ Man of Tomorrow. The late actor, who portrayed the titular character in the television series, Adventures of Superman from 1952-58, has a brief appearance during the Multiverse scene of The Flash.
Christopher Reeve
The late Christopher Reeve, whose rendition of Superman was perhaps the most beloved, also has a cameo as the Man of Steel in the upcoming movie. The actor garnered global stardom for his portrayal of the same in 1978’s Superman and its three sequels.
Henry Cavill
Yes, even Cavill’s Superman has a cameo. As bewildering as it may sound considering everything that went down with the Justice League star’s permanent exit from the superhero franchise and whatnot, it’s true That’s not to say the British actor is coming back as the fan-favorite character because that’s not happening anytime soon. If ever! His Superman merely has a quick appearance at the beginning of the movie, which opens with a television broadcast showing Cavill flying around a volcano with his heat vision on.
So, no, much to fans’ dismay, he isn’t here to stay, James Gunn made sure of that by severing all ties with the Man of Steel star.
The Flash will hit theatres on June 16, 2023.
