“Never again”: Keanu Reeves is Done With John Wick, Wants To Develop Animated Projects in the Future as “Everyone is so wiped out” With Action Films

It has been almost 10 years since Keanu Reeves picked up the role of John Wick by starring in the 2014 movie John Wick. With an iconic role to his name, Reeves has outdone himself with every John Wick movie that came out.

With the fate of Reeves’ John Wick remaining undecided at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4, it seems that the actor wants to adapt his comic books into an animated project. With Netflix as the backup studio, it seems that the Speed actor will finally get a chance to adapt his comic book, titled BRZRKR into an animated project.

Keanu Reeves Will Turn His Comic Books Into Anime?

Back in 2021, Keanu Reeves teamed up with Matt Kindt to create the comic book series titled BRZRKR. The story talks about a protagonist as an immortal warrior fighting his way through the ages. The comics received high acclaim and praise and soon, a live-action adaptation was announced by Netflix.

Alongside the live-action adaptation, Netflix also announced that an animated follow-up series will also be released later. With changing times, Keanu Reeves sat at the San Diego Comic-Con panel in 2022 where it was announced that the anime series will be produced by Production I.G. and will have two seasons.

But why the sudden interest in BRZRKR? Well, it seems that Reeves is tired of portraying the action-heavy role of John Wick and just wants to rest for a while. In an interview, producer Basil Iwanyck talked about The Matrix actor’s mindset after he finished every John Wick movie.

Following the completion of John Wick: Chapter 4, producer Basil Iwanyck is doubtful whether another John Wick would be in the works or not. In an interview, Iwanyck stated that Keanu Reeves always says that he’s done but always comes back for more.

“After every ‘John Wick’ movie, everyone is so wiped out. These are hard movies to pull off, as you can imagine, and Keanu’s always like, ‘Never again.’ We’ve done it all. We’re all friends working together almost nonstop, and we’ve gone through so many things.”

Although unconfirmed, Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR is indeed getting an anime adaptation pretty soon. If Reeves decides to drop the John Wick franchise for a while then he can purely dedicate his work to BRZRKR. As per IMDB, the project is still in pre-production as people wait eagerly for Reeves’s impressive work.

The Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
