Pedro Pascal has been reaching the peak of his career these days with blockbuster hits back to back. His characters in The Last of Us, and The Mandalorian are so amazingly complex and layered, it shocks people to relate the actor to the characters sometimes.
Well admittedly, one thing everyone seems extremely pleased about though, is seeing Pascal thrive after decades of struggle in the industry. However, appreciation from the audience comes in many forms.
And apparently, for Pedro Pascal, it came in the form of him suddenly becoming ‘daddy’ to a number of people enough to at least fill a whole nation on the Internet.
Pedro Pascal enjoys being daddy parts
Pascal being referred to as daddy is not quite a new feat. Although the man himself might disagree, ever since he had his first bout of fame playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, his apparent number of children on the wild internet has kept growing.
Especially with more and more remarkable performances in Narcos Mexico, The Mandalorian, and now this year’s The Last of Us, for which he won the Best Hero award in this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he talked about this when asked to elaborate on this daddy narrative a little further, as it is interesting that his name always gets related to the word somehow.
Although he tried saying initially, saying it mostly has to do with his age, as he is old, Kieran Culkin who was present in the interview, pulled one on him asking, “Will you be my daddy?” And he laughed.
As a result, the next question immediately arose and the interviewer asked him if he was having fun with it. Pedro Pascal, in his true charming yet coy way, replied, “Yeah, I am having fun with it. [The daddy thing] seems a little role-related.” He added further, cheekily,
“There was a period where the Mandalorian is very daddy to baby Grogu, and Joel is very daddy to Ellie. These are daddy parts. That’s what it is.”
Well him having quite the fun with this was very evident when Jeff Bridges who was also present on the Actors on Actors Roundtable, jokingly asked him, “Are you a daddy?”
And he immediately replied, “I’m not a daddy and (looks directly to camera) I’m not going to be a daddy.” The banter went on a little further with Culkin again saying, “I’m a daddy. Nobody likes my daddy parts…They like your daddy parts.”
Even though a lot of people might seem awkward about it, Pascal being Pascal takes these things in stride and even goes out to have fun with this fascination the internet seems to be growing around him.
Pedro Pascal’s fans show how much they love his daddy parts
Well even though Pedro Pascal might like to be blasé about it, his fans have decided to take it as it is and run with it. From saying they need to protect his innocent soul to some even sarcastically agreeing that surely his fatherly roles are exactly why people call him daddy, his fans are having a field day with it.
Pedro Pascal is returning with a short film by Pedro Almodóvar, starring opposition Ethan Hawke that recently saw its premiere at Cannes. The movie Stranger Way of Life features Pascal and Hawke as once-lovers meeting after decades with one wanting to pick up where they left off and one trying to resist.
The movie turned out to be extremely successful with grand reviews. Now, as Almodóvar admitted that he is getting more confident directing in English, fans are hoping they will see more of this pair in a full-length Almodóvar movie in the near future.
