It was an extremely emotional, melancholic, and revolting time for all the actors and crew involved when Harry Potter came to an end. It was certainly a wonderful time for everyone, being on the magical set for more than a decade, now ready to step out into the world. So, it wasn’t when the main cast had the idea of getting a permanent memory of their time together, like a tattoo.
Rupert Grint was all for it, and even Daniel Radcliffe would have agreed. However, Emma Watson was totally against the idea of getting a tattoo even though she is a big fan of them.
Emma Watson Broke Harry Potter Stars Feelings After Filming Ended
Having spent the majority of their lives together, on the sets of Harry Potter, the trio, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe grew a lot closer, almost like a family. Not only did they spend a full decade filming, they literally grew up together. Hence, it was not much of a shock when they thought about commemorating their time spent on the franchise.
Rupert Grint was all for getting a tattoo. In an interview he revealed,
“There was talk between us about doing something like a tattoo. It would have been something subtle like Harry’s lightning scar. It would’ve been a great way of marking the end of filming.”
However, he was soon disappointed when his co-star Emma Watson declined to get a tattoo, even a fairly simple one. She later in an interview revealed the reason behind her choice,
“I love tattoos. But I love them on other people. In fact, I have a Pinterest account and a whole board of tattoos that I like but I would never want one for myself. I don’t think I could pull it off. My own self-image would not allow it.”
And hence, the Harry Potter actress might have disappointed her friend and co-star Rupert Grint.
Daniel Radcliffe Too Refused To Get A Tattoo
Even though it might have been disappointing for him to not have a matching tattoo with his friends remembering their time together on the sets of Harry Potter, the star hasn’t been too keen to get any tattoos. The Guns Akimbo star, years later revealed why he would not want to get a tattoo,
“I’ve got to get a sustained series of jobs where I don’t have to get naked. But I haven’t hit one of them yet, for some reason. There was that first few years of my career when I was just doing Potter where there wasn’t a huge amount of nudity. But since then it’s been almost every job.”
And hence, to make it easier for his makeup artist, Radcliffe chose not to get a tattoo either.
The Harry Potter franchise is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
