Chris Evans, best known for his portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has admitted that the thought of hosting the popular comedy show, Saturday Night Live, makes him nervous. Ana de Armas will soon be making her debut as host on the show, while her Ghosted colleague Chris Evans still isn’t sure about taking on the challenge.
During a recent interview with ET Canada, Evans confessed that he has avoided hosting the popular show due to overwhelming fear. His apprehension may stem from criticism by his close friends, who have not found him particularly humorous throughout the years.
Will Fans Ever See Chris Evans As SNL Host?
Chris Evans admitted that he has been avoiding the opportunity for years. The actor said he feels more comfortable with a brief cameo appearance, which would allow him to appear on the show without the added pressure of hosting. Nevertheless, he expressed admiration for his Ghosted co-star Ana de Armas, who is set to host the show.
“Well, now a cameo I can handle. I’ve avoided hosting ‘SNL’ like the plague for years now just because I’m so scared. It’s terrifying to me,” Evans said. “To me, it would just be one of those things that every single night I would wake up in a cold sweat. A cameo sounds great, that’s perfect. In and out… get your toes wet. But hosting, I tip my hat to her. [Ana is] going to be amazing. But it would provide a lot of sleepless nights for me.”
While Chris Evans might not be sure of taking on the hosting responsibilities, many of his fans continue to hope that he will eventually showcase his comedic talents on the SNL stage.
Chris Evans Doesn’t Think He Is Funny
Evans acknowledged his own limitations when it came to comedy, stating that he doesn’t consider himself a naturally funny person. He explained that just the thought of hosting SNL would cause him a great deal of anxiety. Ultimately, he suggested that he would prefer to stay at home rather than subject himself to the stress of hosting the show.
“I’m not a funny person,” Evans said. “Maybe I only feel that because I have very, very funny friends who once told me I’m not a funny person. I just know how I would feel… it would just be an everyday anxiety, constant regret. Why did I do this? I could have been comfortable at my house, in my bed, not worrying about this.”
Ghosted will be the third cinematic collaboration between Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, who previously appeared together in Knives Out and The Grey Man. The new film, produced by Apple, features Evans, who experiences a seemingly perfect date with de Armas’ character. However, when she suddenly stops responding to his messages, Evans embarks on a quest to find her and discovers that she is a CIA agent. This realization sets off a series of high-octane action sequences that drive the film’s explosive plot forward.
Ghosted will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ starting April 21.
