Will Smith's infamous Oscar slap

Will Smith did a fantastic job as he portrayed the character of Richard Williams in the movie King Richards. The actor was appreciated for his performance globally. Soon just on the same night when he was taking home the Academy Award, controversy followed him and ruined the big night for him. The actor from Bad Boys’ aggressive antics received more attention on social media and news platforms than his significant victory.

During his winning speech at the Oscars 2022, the actor said,

“Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said. I look like the crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.”

Williams’s son Chavoita Richards soon responded to this statement given by the actor. Chavoita wasn’t pleased with Smith mentioning his father’s temper for his actions. While talking about the controversy the famous coach’s son said,

“My dad is not a violent man unless, you know, someone is coming at him in an aggressive manner. I don’t know if my dad holds grudges against anyone and my dad will always take the high road. That’s something I admire about my dad. I think Chris Rock’s feelings are more important than mine when it comes to Will being banned because he was humiliated on the show.”

Chavoita stated that Chris Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett Smith was quite dry and that he is paid to tell jokes. He also stated that he hopes the actor and comedian would soon collaborate on a film.
