Unlike most celebrities, it is hard for fans to stay updated about Scarlett Johansson’s life as the actor has kept herself away from social media. The Black Widow actor, however, attempted to explore the world of Instagram as she created an account. But it did not last long, she found it quite addictive and felt the need of quitting it. So, she deleted the account in just three days.

Johansson also appeared candid about her views on social media. Appearing in The Skinny Confidential podcast the actor has reflected on the anxiety that kept her away from the platforms. “I honestly am too fragile a person to have social media,” Johansson said. “I can’t, my ego is too fragile. My brain is too fragile, I’m like a delicate flower,” she added.

“I have enough anxiety… I had Instagram once for three days. When I started realizing that I’d spent 20 minutes looking at somebody’s Instagram page who’s worked for a friend of mine, who had a family. Now I know you have a pitbull and two daughters and you live in like Burbank. I was like, I just wasted 17 minutes of time. I now feel like I should move to California, get this specific dog, and change my life in all these ways. I felt so bad, like I was missing out on this random person’s life. I can’t do this. I’m too fragile.”

Many social media platforms have over billion users and there is always a constant flow of updates flooding the platforms. So, it is hard to track someone’s update in the ocean of updates. Johansson also felt the fear of missing out and then she quit it altogether.

Although the actor does not have any social media platform she does participate to help her team with TikTok videos for her clean skincare line The Outset. The Johansson & Kate Foster-owned brand has been active on social media with Instagram and other social media accounts. And Johansson, being part of the brand value, the actor tends to appear in videos and photos. “I go on to the outset to look at our, what we’re putting on there. I still think I’m not using it properly. So, I can’t actually get updated information,” Johansson said.

“I don’t know I can’t when I go into the office they show me what we’re doing and we also make terrible videos. Kate and I make terrible videos. We’re both so bad at it but it’s fun. We do readers, we read review customer reviews. I like to do that, I like to read the customer reviews and perform them for people on Tick Tock but I don’t have Tik Tok.”

But Johansson enjoys being in the loop with the customers and creating content for the brand with 535 thousand TikTok followers, as of writing this piece.

“I mean it’s definitely fun. Everytime I see [TikTok] in our office, I then become like a 3-year-old with their mom’s phone where I get completely absorbed into it. That’s why I know I can’t have it,” Johansson said of TikTok.

Johansson also took part in the Wes Anderson TikTok trend along with the cast of Asteroid City.

Johansson is now set to appear in Josh Cooley’s Transformers One starring alongside Chris Hemsworth. The movie is scheduled for 13 September 2024 release.
