Carrie Fisher was one of the most well-recognized actresses in Hollywood, being part of massive projects like When Harry Met Sally, Bright Lights, The Blues Brothers, Scream 3, and Drop Dead Fred. One of her most notable roles however is her work in the Star Wars franchise as Princess Leia alongside Harrison Ford as Hans Solo.
While she has been involved in many controversies of her own, one of the most well knows was her affair with Ford during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back while the actor was married.
Carrie Fisher And Harrison Ford Were Involved With Each other
While Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford played on-screen love interests in the Star Wars franchise, the chemistry the two shared on camera might have a lot to do with their real-life relationship with each other. It was quite a well-known fact that during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back that Fisher and Ford were involved romantically with each other as it is rumored to be the reason for Ford’s divorce from Mary Marquardt.
“My affair with Harrison was a very long one-night stand,” Fisher wrote in her memoir. “I was relieved when it ended. I didn’t approve of myself.”
This was revealed in a memoir written by Fisher where she went into detail about her relationship with the Indiana Jones actor. In this memoir, the actress revealed that she wasn’t very proud of this affair and ultimately ended up regretting it. She even added that she was relieved when this ended. She also went on to say that a reason why the two didn’t work was because the actress held much stronger feelings for the actor than he did for her.
Harrison Ford Talks About His Affair With Carrie Fisher
Harrison Ford has never denied any of this, which was uncharacteristic for the usually private actor. During an interview, the actor was asked about his affair with Carrie Fisher, and to the surprise of many, he replied truthfully. The actor stated that the entire thing was strange for him.
“It was strange,” Ford stated. “For me.” then added, “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know. You know, with Carrie’s untimely passing, I don’t really feel that it’s a subject that I want to discuss.”
Then, when he was asked about how he felt about Fisher writing about this, he mentioned that he didn’t know how he feels, then added that he wasn’t very fond of the idea of talking on this subject after the passing of the actress. He continued saying that did not want to discuss this topic any further. He also added that he had not read Fisher’s memoir and hasn’t discussed the affair ever since.
