Deadpool is one of the most beloved characters in the MCU due to his unhinged humor, unique personality, and breaking of the fourth wall. And with its announcement for the third sequel that features Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, fans are more excited than before. The actors are training rigorously to perfectly fit in their superhero characters. However, that’s not all because, with recent casting announcements, a major mutant hero is expected to return in the third installment of the movie.
The fans have seen the cast member in the previous two movies, however, she is different from the Marvel comic books. While the presence of other cast members was confirmed recently, her presence remained a question. Until, the actress, herself, addressed her potential return to the Deadpool sequel.
New Mutant in the House: Who is Copycat?
Born a mutant, Copycat has the ability to shapeshift into any person, mimicking their powers and abilities. The character had a complex early life as she fell deep into a life of prostitution. However, she got her life together when she became a mercenary. She joined Cable’s X-Force strike team as Domino when she was employed by Mr. Tolliver. Copycat informed her employer that members of X-Force could not recognize her as she was an exact duplicate of Domino. She was then ordered to bomb the X-Force’s headquarters, but couldn’t as she started to care for the mutant team.
Copycat later helped the strike team to fight Mr. Tolliver, and then she went into hiding. However, she was later found by Wade Wilson, who is also known as Deadpool, and became his love interest. In the comics, the two have done several missions together. Throughout, the comics the character has worked with both heroes and villains and as a result, some fans would call her a villain, while others an anti-hero.
Will Copycat Make Her Debut in Deadpool 3?
Despite receiving several hints, if the readers still fail to recognize who Copycat is in the film, it is Morena Baccarin who played the role of Vanessa Carlysle in the first two Deadpool movies. However, in the movie, she is portrayed differently from her comic book character because she is an ordinary human being.
While the fans loved the actress in the first two movies, it was unknown if the actress would return in the third film. Morena Baccarin recently updated the fans about her return in the third installment of the film. The Homeland actress was present on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, where she was asked if she has any scoop for the film. Baccarin replied that she would be “very diplomatic” with what she says here and they are having talks to come to an agreement.
“Yeah, what is up with ‘Deadpool 3? That’s a really good question. I have to be very diplomatic about what I say here. I’d like to be in it. They have called me about being in it. Right now, we have not agreed on terms, and everybody’s trying their best, and doing their best. It may or may not work out. I don’t know.”
The actress continued that the filmmakers are trying to make the film more about Deadpool and Wolverine, despite her being present in the first two films.
“I’d like to think so. I do think that this movie, since the acquirement of this Deadpool universe by Marvel/Disney… that merger that happened, I do feel like they’re trying to reinvent it a little bit. I think this movie is going to be much more about Wolverine and Deadpool. Yeah, yeah, that’s known. Yeah, I mean, Hugh’s going to be a huge part of it. I’m sure he’ll be great.”
Even though Morena Baccarin is not giving clear hints about her potential return to the third film. It is highly possible that she might return because despite her death in the sequel; she was brought back in the post-credits scene when Wade Wilson altered the future by going back to the past. Therefore, it is likely that fans would see the actress in the sequel.
