Iman Vellani says she received a piece of concise but helpful advice from MCU’s Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson. The Ms. Marvel actress is praised for her performance in the TV series created by Bisha K. Ali. Disney+’s Ms. Marvel is a light-hearted story filled with action, humor, and emotions. The show immediately gained a lot of avid supporters because of Vellani’s charming personality.
The actress portrayed Kamala Khan in the show, a character who will have a significant role in future MCU movies starting with 2023’s The Marvels, the sequel to the 2019 Captain Marvel.
Samuel L. Jackson Gave Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani A Piece Of Advice
In her interview with AP Entertainment, Vellani shared that she asked her co-star Samuel L. Jackson for a piece of advice. This is the first time Ms. Marvel and Nick Fury will work together as they did not have any encounters in Ms. Marvel. Below is Vellani’s statement:
“I remember when Sam Jackson was on set, I had this whole laundry list of questions for him. And I was asking him like, ‘What’s the best characteristic of an actor?’ Or something like that. And he was like, ‘Patience.’ I was like, ‘Yes, Sam, you’re right. Patience.’ And then after that, I never complained, ever.”
The actress took this brief but meaningful advice to heart, and she said it helped her gain a different perspective, especially at work. Filmmaking is a fast-paced yet stressful field, and people are constantly moving.
“If anything took longer than five minutes, or ten minutes, or coming to set and not even working, it’s all part of the job and you have to understand that there’s so many moving parts. It’s like a little world, constantly moving around you, and you have no idea where to put yourself. So, you just really have to work with it and appreciate the amount of people and bodies that are working on making this one, two-hour movie, or whatever.”
For a veteran actor like Samuel L. Jackson, he knows that patience is the most significant virtue to uphold in the field of acting. It must have been life-changing advice for Iman Vellani.
The Future Of Ms. Marvel In The MCU
At the end of the Ms. Marvel series, it was revealed that Kamala was actually a mutant. Marvel Studios has been preparing the introduction of the X-Men in the franchise, and this is a good sign that finally, more and more mutants are appearing in the MCU. The introduction of Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only the beginning.
The only prominent role that Kamala Khan will play in the near future is in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Tayonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau. The film will serve as a sequel to the franchise, but it is still unknown whether Vellani’s role will have a greater impact in the grander scheme of the Multiverse Saga.
All episodes of Ms. Marvel are available to stream via Disney+.
