Mortal Kombat 1 was just one of the many titles which saw a reveal at the recent PlayStation Showcase at San Diego Comic Con. Alongside a trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man 2 game, there was the reveal of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, a new dedicated streaming device and a release date for the long awaited Alan Wake 2, amongst many many other things.
But for fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise the action-packed trailer that dropped as part of the panel at San Diego Comic Con, revealed a trio of characters who they may or may not remember from games past.
Who are the characters from the Mortal Kombat 1trailer?
First up is Baraka, who most fans will recognise straight away from various MK titles. Debuting way back in 1993 in Mortal Kombat II, he certainly has come a long way since then and his look in the trailer is fiercer and more intimidating.
“We are victims of Tarkat. It disfigures, then debilitates. In time it will turn us all into blood thirsty monsters. Death is our only release.”
Fans may remember Tanya more recently from Mortal Kombat X, having debuted earlier in Mortal Kombat 4. A treacherous and deceitful Edenian, she is an ally of Mileena and never far from her side. And from the trailer we can see that she still bears a grudge against Li Mei.
“Let’s see if you still fight like an Umgadi.”
The main focus of the trailer however was the character of Li Mei. She is possibly the most over-looked of the three who feature and for those who don’t remember her, she made her first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. The former leader of the Umgadi warriors, she was raised from birth to protect the royal family. But it was on her watch that the princesses’ father was murdered. Is she now battling for redemption?
“I will prevail Earthrealmer. This fight is more important to me than you can ever know”.
