“Monstrous book as big as a dragon”: $835M Margot Robbie Movie Why George R.R. Martin Not Finishing Longest Game of Thrones Book Ever Written

$835M Margot Robbie Movie Why George R.R. Martin Not Finishing Longest Game of Thrones Book Ever Written

After releasing the first novel of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, George R.R. Martin probably took a temporary retirement from writing, as his highly anticipated penultimate volume, The Winds of Winter, is taking longer than expected.

However, this isn’t the case yet, as Martin has been working on his next novel since 2010. But due to his procrastination, his work has been pending for more than a decade. While fans are eagerly waiting for his novel to release, the writer is busy watching the much-hyped film of the year, Barbie.

George R.R. Martin’s next novel is a far cry for fans

The wait for George R.R. Martin‘s next novel, The Winds of Winter, seems endless, as it has been more than a decade since the fans have been waiting for the highly anticipated novel. However, Martin claims that “the book is worth the wait,” but the question is: when?

Earlier in 2010, the writer announced that four chapters of the novel had been completed, but later, the actor denied providing a tentative timeline of the book release to his eager fans. The writer clearly said that he is just making estimations about the book release, as he isn’t sure when the book will be completed. The writer said,

”There’s an element of fans who don’t seem to realize I’m making estimates. I’ve repeatedly been guilty of an excess of optimism.”

Yet again, the series of hopes went on, as in 2012, Martin said during an interview that the book would arrive in 2014, but it never happened. Later, in various other interviews, the writer made several different claims, which assured the fans that work is in the process, but when they will get to read his novel is a mystery.

Previously, during an interview, Martin said that he won’t be making any predictions anymore, as it makes the fans impatient and he gets pressurized to complete the novel. The 74-year-old novelist said,

“I make what I think is the best-case estimate, and then stuff happens. Then everybody gets mad that I ‘lied.’ I’ve never lied about these predictions. They’re the best I can make, but I guess I overestimate my ability to get stuff done, and I underestimate the amount of interruptions and other projects, other demands that will distract me.”

According to Martin, The Winds of Winter is “a monstrous book as big as a dragon.” So it’s obvious that the book requires a lot of dedication, but perhaps the writer is diverted to other non-writing endeavors.

Ever since Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie entered our lives, the world has seemed pink. The hype about Barbie can’t be missed, as people are going insane for the film, and now it has marked its name as one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. The buzz around the film is so high that even George R.R. Martin went to watch it. Recently, the writer posted his picture on his social media handle and captioned it,

“I went to see Barbie with my lovely wife; she said pink is my color. #imkenough”

Martin must be steadily working on his novel; the writer makes sure that he does not miss out on real-world fun while getting engrossed in writing.

Margot Robbie, starring Barbie, is playing successfully in theaters worldwide.
